I was told that the GSM modules for Paradox Alarms cant send text messages (when the alarm is triggered etc.) to Telecom numbers.

Can anyone tell me if that is true or what the story is?

Not sure about the GSM module, I have the IP module for mine and can remotely log in / receive email alerts in the case of an alarm. I also have the main unit set to dial my cellphone in the event of an alarm.

some gsm modules are Vodafone only might pay to ask them

My understanding is that most of the GSM modules are 2G hence they will only work on Vodafone as Telecom don't have 2g network. But so long as you have a Vodafone sim in the GSM module i don't see any reason why it couldn't send to a Telecom / Skinny / 2Degrees number.

Yeah that is what i thought too, but heard that they cannot receive either. Not sure if that was just misunderstanding so wanted to clarify with someone who tried before.

Just thought that I would give you an update for future reference if anyone goes with the Paradox system. We had the unit installed couple of weeks back - very happy btw!

The installer told us that the unit will not text our Telecom numbers, on the day I asked him again - he called Atlas Gentech - his supplier and they confirmed that the unit will not able to text Telecom numbers. I was bit disappointed as this would mean another phone device for me as both me and my partner are with Telecom, but it was the same information I was getting from others when I get quotes on the alarm installation.

Couple of days after the installation I tried to put my number and trigger the alarm to see what the unit does when a Telecom number is used and to my surprise the text notification was delivered the exact same way as to my 2degrees number. I made couple of test with my and my partner's number and the unit works flawlessly with Telecom!

I expect they're getting very hung up on the carrier frequency, rather than the number.
Their GSM module will only work on some frequencies, but there actual number it's sending to could be anywhere as far as I'm aware, as you've since gone on to prove.

The GSM alarm module needs a 2degrees or vodafone SIM card, this is the number that sends the alarm notification.
The installer is correct that it can only work with a Vodafone (2degrees) SIM card.

The number it is calling or texting can be any number that the SIM card is capable of calling.

I had to try this to prove and it is the truth. I have spoken to 6 different alarm guys (one of the on the phone with the supplier - Atlas Gentech) and all told me that the SIM card in the GSM module has to be 2degrees or Vodafone which is correct but all also said that the unit will not be able to text any Telecom numbers which is not true.

I am not sure how much share Telecom has but I guess it is either the biggest or second biggest provider so I would expect they must of been asked the same question numerous times before. The lack of knowledge about the product they sell/service these people have really surprised me.

At initial installation, my installer had tried with a 2degrees SIM in the GSM but we seemed to have some issues in maintaining network connection. Temperamental

When we switched to Vodafone SIM it fixed all. 
I would be wary of SPARK due to the lack of 2G network as minimum fallback (we did not even try a SIM).  

We did not have an issue in the module sending an SMS to a Telecom/Spark number. It is just SMS
