My two Echo devices - an Echo Plus and an Echo Show - still reference amazon.com for the Alexa services. 

 

I already have amazon accounts in in the UK (since 1998), the US (since 2011) and Australia (since 2017)... now waiting to open an Amazon.co.nz account in 2018.

I’d switched my Amazon Echo Dot to language “English (Australia)”, but then found that the “Big Sky” weather skill wasn’t available any more.

I suspect that what is needed is for the developers of that, and other skills, to update them to enable them to be available in more languages, and in particular “English (Australia)”. That may take some time.

So I’ve switched back to “English (US)”.

Thought I would try the herald flash briefing, it seems to just stop reading mid sentance. Pretty hopeless.

I've got the NZ Herald in my Flash Briefing now on my 1st gen Echo, but yes, if RNZ and NewsTalk ZB skills are live, I'm not seeing those.

Are you sure it's not the broken one made by Keran Mckenzie? That has been there for a while, it cuts off the headlines mid sentence.

Ah, that's the one I have. So there is a more official one? Is that live on newer devices at this stage?

I just googled it and pressed the enable on the page, then turned it on. Looking now it is that one. Will dis-enable it and 1 star it I think

Ah, that's the one I have. So there is a more official one? Is that live on newer devices at this stage?

 

 

 

Not 100% sure, but judging by the comments on the previous page I assume so.

Hi there.

 

So downloaded the Alexa app and updated my location to Wellington NZ (previously was in the US) Changed in my Amazon account and also the Echo Dot setting as well. (Location,  and time zone to Pacific)

 

However my weather shows as Seattle still - is that because my language is still set to Eng-US? Should be Eng-AUS maybe?

 

Just on the automation front, the Hue lights still seem to work - not the Harmony Hub though. :-(  Heres hoping that gets sorted shortly as that was kind of cool.

 

Also Morepork still works, but that was always - Alexa, ask alarm.com to.........

 

One other question, I have ordered 2 x Echos as well, and was planning to take one to AKL where I will be for a while. If I changed the location of that Echo to AKL, but leave my Amazon account as Wellington will it be smart enough to realise its in AKL for things like weather (other new Echo and existing Echo Dot will stay in Wellington)

Each echo device has its own address setting, its not the one from the account that it uses for weather.

Do you own an Echo Show?  Are you having problems with it??

 

 

 

I have an Echo Show and well as an Echo Plus both purchased from Amazon.com. I also have ordered two Echo Dots that I'm waiting for JB Hifi to deliver.

 

 

 

Originally, I setup my two Echo devices a couple of weeks ago and both were working fine. Then, over the weekend just gone, my Echo Show stopped responding and has been stuck dumb.... just as I wanted to demo it to a friend.

 

 

 

I starting checking the setup for both devices using the alexa.amazon.com website where they were originally connected but they both are showing as 'offline'

 

Investigating further, I checked alexa.amazon.com.au to find both Echo devices showing as 'online'. While the Echo Plus is still working and responding, the Echo Show is still not speaking to me.

 

I suspect the problem is the supported languages, The Echo Plus can use a number of English versions. While the Echo Show can only speak US or UK English.

 

 

 

Hopefully, the above makes sense and someone may have discovered a way to get our Echo Show working again!!!!

Mine are all still working fine, I have an echo spot which also isnt supported in AU etc.

 

When I go to the alexa . amazon . com . au site I get redirected to alexa . amazon . com which works the same as usual.

 

All my devices have a NZ street address on them so not sure what they would be using to move some people to the au one and not others.
