This is really frustrating me.  Rnz must have broken something on their back end.  And I can’t play rnz National Auckland via a routine.

has anyone got rnz working on iHeartRadio on Alexa?

ive had to pull out the google home again !  And we had progressively gone to almost all alexas (6 in the house)

The above work around worked for me. But actually 10 min later I realised it was playing replay radio and it went back to its usual programming - it actually played RNZ Pacific to me instead.

Setup 'mytuner radio' skill via the app and then say 'Alexa, ask mytuner radio to play RNZ national'

I am istening to Kim Hill now

It's the TuneIn skill that's causing an issue

OP here. I confirm that this routine now calls up Radio NZ Pacific. Sigh.

Looked at MyRadio skill but as it's not a music source I could not get it to 'invoke' Radio NZ National. A silly Alexa routines weakness, ie you can call a skill but cant pass it any variables.

Yes it works if you tell Alexa to play RNZ using MyRadio but not if you do so via a routine. The point of the exercise is to be able to say "alexa play radio" and get RNZ National.

Anyone know why iHeartRadio can play RNZ on a phone app but it can’t play via Alexa?

Damn. Was working for me too as a workaround and now MyTuner Radio won’t load?!??

Here is what you do...

1. Get the 'My Pod' Skill for Alexa. It allows you a limited number of free playlists, including the ability to stream podcasts, YouTube files and play audio files from your Gmail Drive.

2. Create a new 'Playlist' and name it.

3. 'Add link to Playlist', create a new link called RNZ (or whatever you like), and add this for the URL: https://ais-nzme.streamguys1.com/nz_115_aac

4. Once created you just say "Alexa, ask My Pod to play RNZ" and it will.

Thanks - mypod works (although you can't call from a routine as far as I know).

The sooner RNZ fixes this the better.  I've sent an email to the tech support email address - maybe other should too?

Actually My Pod does allow you to have a stream played automatically once its called, and you can call it from a routine.  Hurrah.  So I can now have Nat Radio back as my alarm :)
