Fabian: Can someone tell me if it is possible to connect this watch with an iPhone? If so what are the steps? Many thanks

Yes it would appear so.
Search "Aerlink, Wear Connect for iOS" in the play store. Doesn't require root or jailbreak. The App Store part does cost money, Play Store part free. Won't be as full featured as Android-Android connection.

Incidentally it was the first result in a Google search of "Connect Android wear to iPhone".

You can. The functionality is quite limited (notifications, music controls, few other things), it can be quite temperamental but does work. I've been using it for a while but I'm not sure I would recommend it. The process is not seamless, in particular reconnection after your phone and watch go out of range is not fully automatic and will sometimes require repairing, one or two times a week.

There is a long thread on XDA about it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/android-wear/development/android-wear-ios-connectivity-t3052524

In short you need the Aerlink app from the Google Play Store AND iTunes store. The Android app is free but the iOS ends costs a small amount. I think you may be able to use other iOS BT utilities to get the watch to pair, I have done this in the past but I'm not sure if it is still supported. The iOS app is pretty cheap and I think it's good to support the developer.

You need an android device to set it up and keep the time in sync with the real world, I have a nexus 7 that mostly lives at home.

Hope that helps.

Fabian: You don't have an iPhone 5 or 5s that you want to swap with?

Sorry, I don't. Only ever owned Android handsets and doubt that'll change anytime soon.

Anyone else out there with one surplus to requirements? You could make money off your earlier bargain purchase!

I'm still keen on buying one if anyone has one that they don't make the most of...

Just got a system update that enabled wi-fi :-)

Build LCA44B

Edit - have connected to a wi-fi network. Had to enter the password for the network on the phone, even though it was one my phone automatically connects to. I thought they would share the already stored passwords but doesn't seem to be the case.

Yep - WIFI is enabled on mine too after the latest update. Very handy actually. Can just leave my phone in the pantry on charge and walk around the house getting notifications. Also, support for the new interactive watch faces - running Bits at the moment - can squeeze a lot of useful info on the screen now!

I tried the original wifi hack through the urbane and wasnt overly impressed, but this seems to work well. I left my phone at home and through my work wifi was able to receive and send messages via the watch. Way cool :)

I did 12 hours on brightness 4 yesterday, and there was 56% left.

However hotspotting from my iPhone5 sucked the life out of the phone in about 5 hours......

Received update this morning when I connected my GWR.
I have immediately turned the WiFi option off as my experience with my SW3 is it is a huge battery hog. But if i understand it correctly, WiFi only kicks in when Bluetooth drops out. I haven't had a chance to explore the new faces or features yet. But I am glad to see Wear is still evolving.

I would rate this as one of the best tech bargains I have got (the warehouse stationary specials). But even then, I am quite accustomed to a smart watch in my life and would recommend one to a friend (not at the iWatch price though, only at less than $350)
