NZtechfreak:
gehenna: i don't really want to wait until July so I'm sticking with the original one.  Probably be on an Apple Watch by July anyway :)

After having a Moto 360, which I did like on many levels, I am so done with a watch that needs daily charging. I think I'll be happy with a Pebble Time.

Personally I wasn't interested in wearables until the Apple watch hype (long time iOS user). I was curious about but never really looked into the Pebble as it was $149 for what appeared to be a very tired and limited screen.

My ears perked up but I was still waiting to be convinced. The Apple watch video was polished as we have come to expect but it didn't have all the details required.

Then weeks later Tim Cook made the widely reported comments saying "you'll be using the watch so much you'll want to charge it every day".

That's when I looked at Pebble and I got one off trade me. Fantastic bloody watch and love the battery life. The watch is hugely aware of its weaknesses and limitations and powers on ahead to be the leading smart watch in the market.

Within days I had decided I would get a Steel during the Black Friday $149 sale that I was anticipating. Couldn't be happier.

Dingbatt: I wonder how long it will be before the Pebble Steel Time is offered? The plastic Time will probably be a success purely from the loyal fan base already engendered by the first.

Only a week by the looks of reports from MWC. I would love to know the ratio of plastic to steel devices that they sell.

I think I'll be sticking with my Pebble Steel. A colour screen sounds nice, but for now the black and white eInk screen is fine.

From what I've read the version 3 firmware will be available for the Steel so all I'll be missing is the colour screen and some extra memory.

geekiegeek:
nakedmolerat: The main 2 advantages for pebble is - always ON screen and once a week charge.

I think Apple watch is only rated for 2.5 - 5 hours of usage. Expect the need to charge it every night.

Just like the phones all of these watches rely on.

My Nokia Lumia 1320 lasts 7 days between charges, that's with a little gaming, txting, web browsing. GPS/Bluetooth in the car. A friend has the 1520 and he too is getting roughly 7 days and he's constantly using it. Backing the Pebble time even though WP isn't officially supported I can still use some features with 3rd party apps. I think it looks fine, the steel version of the time also looks good :-)

What app do youy use with WP?

Unfortunately the way the WP OS works I find the Pebble Watch Pro app has severe limitations on the Nokia 920 compared to the Pebble apps on other phones, like my Nokia N9. On the 920 the Pebble app has to be on the "active" screen for the Pebble to stay connected. As soon as you switch to the any other screen or launch any other app, e.g. Maps, the Pebble loses connectivity with the phone.  This makes a WP phone pretty well useless to use with the likes of the Pebble which is a real pity.

To paraphrase a famous saying "Windows Phone one small step for Microsoft, one huge leap backwards for Nokia".

Well my pebble time turned up yesterday, have to say it's nice.

Don't know if I will keep it as I do like my sony smartwatch (android wear) a bit more due to google now and the cards but will give it another few days.
It's a lot lighter and a bit smaller than the sony watch.

Cannot wait!!!

You'll have to learn to.  Big delivery issues to NZ.  Mine shipped (expedited) on June 4th.  Still hasn't arrived.  I've had my expedited shipping fee refunded which is good, but still waiting for the actual Pebble Time to show up!

Their helpdesk is just rubbish, but I suspect they are getting smashed by non-delivery complaints.  They sent mine via Star Track but didn't include any customs paperwork, so Star Track held it for 10 days then they say they sent it back to the Pebble distributor.  Pebble say they haven't received anything and they think they've sorted the customs paperwork so it should be nearly with me.  But each day passes and nothing shows up, no-one seems to be sure where it is, and no-one is even answering my emails anymore.  Sigh.

I received my Pebble Time (White) three days ago sent by post (non-expedited) so their supply chain can work sometimes.

Yeah I had no trouble with the first Pebble when it came out.  Lots of people with this issue in NZ though, seeing a lot on Twitter and Reddit.

I had the same issue, however I emailed them saying I expected a refund of the shipping as they did not meet the 4-5 day window, they did refund but not the custom/gst charge.  Refund was about 23 US

So..to resurrect an old thread - for those that have a Pebble time or PTS, how have you found it?

I have one on the way and I am quite keen to hear first hand experiences with the Pebble Time in particular.
