Once you're done with them can I have a play? I could maybe do another review. Though plug in energy monitoring probably isn't that useful, when hot water and hard wired air conditioners probably use most of the power in a home.

freitasm: Not seeing it as slow to update. Actually almost instantly when using.

Also you may feel comfortable doing an Arduino meter, but Joe Consumer are more likely to get a solution ready to use...

Except that Joe Consumer won't buy plugs that cost $70. That's enthusiast territory.

Example: I bought a LIFX bulb from Harvey Norman. The salesperson looked at it and said "that's a really cool idea! Never actually looked at what those were" - despite the fact that she spend every working day 10 metres from it, she never looked at it because she saw the cost and looked no further.

Basically, these guys are going to have to either step up their game to bring features to enthusiast territory, or drop their prices into consumer territory. They can't sell a product at enthusiast prices with consumer features.

kiwitrc: Has anyone managed to get firmware update to work on these? I have 3 and have yet to see it work, just get a message to say oops timeout.

I had major issues. Also the timer on iOS8.X never worked properly. Jumped days when I turned it on and off again on the app.
Gave up with their appalling tech support, and eventually returned for refund through local retailer.

The retailer was very helpful. Efergy were not.

Yeah I am finding exactly the same re timers and I am using Andoid. These things are very flakey.

To those that have used these - has anyone used Wemo as well?  I have a couple of Wemo devices but the switches are expensive, however I don't have problems with software (except for adding the software to a new device in a hous with existing devices, that never seems easy).

The Wemo Insight Switch is great, but at $100 is a real hit on the wallet.

Not got the insight wemo. Have many normal ones.

They are big. Far too big.

IFTTT integration is the only redeeming feature of them. The android app is absurdly slow to open and often shows devices offline on the first opening of it.

My effigy both read wrong from what the load is. Ones actually not too bad, about 5%. The other is way wrong.

I also have both (not insight Wemo). I got the Efergy to track energy usage since the Wemo doesnt do that (unless you get the insight which I havent seen here).

I agree IFTTT integration is the only redeeming feature of Wemo over others.

It seems crap software is the norm for IOT devices.

Mine also would periodically appear to reboot and briefly drop power for a fraction of a second when it did that. Doing that to a portable aircon is a good way to screw it up so had to take that off it and back on a stand alone dumb energy monitor with no relay in it.
