I was thinking of picking one of these up. Has anybody had any experience with them before? Is it as fun as it looks? I have an HTC One M7, im guessing that is fine to be able to download the app?

Basically just after small reviews/comments about it. Looks like lots of fun.

I have one of these.

Quite fun, but I tired of it pretty quickly. They generate their own wireless network that you in turn connect your phone to, but I found the range to be pretty small indoors once you have a wall or two between yourself and the drone. Camera also pretty low resolution. They also have no microphone, and you can't transmit your own audio through it.

It jumps fairly well, high enough to get up on a sofa or out of some tricky positions (but the jump does rely on a fairly firm surface under the drone).

Probably OK for the discounted price.

But have a look at the new models coming out which add the ability for two way audio communication via the drone (among other features). Much more useful for sending it into the kitchen to ask the missus to bring you a beer :)

I was in Sydney attending their announcement and had time to use some of the new robots... Very well done, but I still feel 10 - 15 minutes battery life runs out just about when you are having most fun.

I've had one for a little while, and have been trying to hack it around a little.  (But have mostly left it on the shelf).

It's a pretty standard Linux install on the device much like the parrot quadcopters, so you can login and re-configure it to alternate settings.

My plan is to have a script look for it's wifi network, then auto-reconfigure it to connect to my existing wifi network.  This would allow me to connect to it via a VPN, and therefore have a little remote security bot.

There are a couple of tricks though, I need to reconfigure my entire network to fit it's subnet as all the apps assume it's on a single hardcoded IP address. This is my main stalling point:  I'm too lazy to redo all the networking.

The other is remote power on,  you can leave it on charge, but it powers down, however it will auto power on when removed from charge.   So my remote power on was to attach it's charger to a wemo switch.

Warning: reality may differ from above post
