Hi - I bought a video converter box from AliExpress, problem is it shipped with a 2 prong straight pin power adapter.. stats AC100-240V input, 5V DC output 1000mA.  Am I right in thinking I can buy this and it will work fine?

Thanks in advance.

Should be ok.

Just have to make sure the barrel plug is the correct size, and the polarity is correct, ie centre positive or negative.
Check for a diagram on the AliExpress adapter to see what polarity the centre connector is.

Assuming the pin size and polarity is correct, yes.

If it's not a multi voltage adapter with swappable plugs is probably the best option.

problem - i don't know what the polarity is and can't see a diagram on the power adapter.  its model number is SJ-0510-U which i googled but can't find info on polarity.  will setting the wrong polarity damage the device?  considering its a cheap piece of crud from china lol.

When the product arrives the polarity should be marked on the power supply.  It will probably be centre positive.

If it is not marked find a multimeter and an adaptor plug to convert US plug to NZ plug, plug in the power pack and measure the output.

Fine for at home, but if you are using it in a business that will not fly.
