shk292:

I was thinking of getting a Pebble for ages but never quite did.

They're really cheap on Amazon now, very tempted.  Probably a Time or Time Steel

Ordered a Time Steel with leather band, came to $175nzd inc delivery if anyone is interested

I've had an LG, 2 Sonys and then Pebble...

Nothing could come close to the Pebble as I need buttons and the ability to roll down a glove at work, see notifications and deal with them with them.
Thanks to this and the free pebble thread... 3 working Pebbles!!! (I had to wait for shops to open to buy a T5 torx)

I was worried what I was going to do when my 3rd one died.

How is the Gear Fit 2 going? I ordered one off 1day. Hoping that notifications and music controls work well on a non-Samsung (Nexus 5x)

Couldn't find that version of the Modern watchface but have downloaded the Pebble Classic version, which is very similar without the digital option. I see there's also one version of Modern with a step counter.

Anyone found a suitable replacement yet?

My pebble is having issues and it looks like i'm not alone looking on pebbles forums there is an issue where the pebble will disconnect from the phone and will get suck in a pairing loop until the phone is rebooted but it won't last long and will soon be back with the same issue. I have done everything I can factory reset and uninstall and reinstall of the app nothing has worked. Anyone else got the same issue?

I did not see it mentioned but the Vector smart watch has meet the same fate as pebble and has been brought by fitbit and from what I have found no one comes close to pebbles battery life with the same set of features(and that is being kind to the vector).

Android wear watches while getting a recent update still have the same battery life issues as any oled and lcd screen watch the casio smart watch would probably come the closest I have seen but from what I can tell there is no smart switching between the Monocrystal display and the LCD which would give far better battery life and an always on screen(unless your watch was ringing of the hook with notifications) but from what I can tell it does not do this.

I could be ok with 3 days of battery life but 1 day is just a pain. And I'm not even going to bother hoping that fitbit fix the issue.

Just an update after a bit of searching I settled on the ASUS Zenwatch 3. It's not a bad smartwatch but it is no pebble.

The key reason I settled on it was the 30Min 100% charge time. I have found so far that the battery lasts one full day+(I am using theatre mode while I sleep which which turns off the screen and notifications but alarms will continue to work)

The things I don't like about it

1) it has a weak vibrator motor, I had to install a 3rd party app called feel the wear to increase the amount of time it vibrates for as the default strength was so weak and short I could hardly feel it the longer vibe does help but still feels like a tingle if the watch is loosely fitted

2) it uses a non standard watch strap type so any pebble straps will not fit.

3) theater mode has to be manually enabled. Would prefer it if gave the option to automatically enable at night and stay active till morning but allow you to disable it for a few minutes if you hit a button during this time right now its annoying to have to enable and it is far to easy to hit a button and disable theatre mode while sleeping and will stay disabled.

Got any questions about it fire away. It's not going to be the right choice for everyone in this thread and quite frankly if your pebble is still working you would be best to stay with it. But the 30min charge time makes the battery life issues more manageable as there is at least 30 min every morning when I'm getting ready for the day where can charge the watch and given that it is lasting 24 hours+ under normal notification + mild other feature use activity I can live with it.

I'm still using my Sony SmartWatch 2. It must be 3 years old now or so. It gets 3-4 days if I turn it off for the nights. It has no fitness smarts. With the informer app it keeps me up to date with notifications. If I have to replace it, it would be the Asus Zenwatch 3 or Samsung Gear S3. I've got a very favourite fixoflex 20-24mm band which colors my preferences somewhat. You can still source the Sony SW2 cheap.
