I need to get a dictaphone/voice recorder for lectures (not Todd Barclay styles). Can anyone suggest a good, inexpensive one?

I just use my phone now.  Had a basic Canon digital one from warehouse stationary that worked well, but seems little point in carrying around 2 devices.

I know I can use my phone but I'm looking for a separate device.

Sorry I had the brand wrong (shows how long it's been since I have used it).  This one:  http://www.warehousestationery.co.nz/product/B216035.html#start=1

Couldn't fault it for simple interviewing recordings but it depends on what features you want.

We used to buy our dictation equipment and get support though these guys when I was working in the legal industry: http://www.soundbusiness.co.nz/. Good dictation equipment is fairly pricy stuff.

Thread bump...if I was to use my (Windows) phone can someone suggest a good reliable app? I tried The Sound Recorder but it seems to be hit-and-miss. Sometimes it randomly exits and stops without the phone being touched. I want an app I can just start and forget about until it's time to press stop.

That's the problem I've had with phones used for this purpose too - they're simply not reliable enough.

My issue was it getting a call. Pain in the butt how phones think that whatever you are doing needs to be stopped just because of an incoming call, so having to remember to set airplane mode (since there is inexplicably no cellular call toggle on phones like they have a cellular data toggle) and then remember to turn it back off when done was my problem using a phone to record.

When on silent, it would stop recording, show the incoming call screen (or get rejected automatically by truecaller) and then just go back to the lock screen. Only notice it happening if I see it light up unexplained.

I think I'll just get a dictaphone. I'm sick of trying to use flaky apps that just don't work properly and record nothing (or stop randomly after 27 minutes).
Unless someone can recommend a good Windows Phone 8.1 app that's reliable?

I'm going to try one more - Perfect Recorder it's called. Let's see what happens.
