I use something similar on the iPhone, in conjunction with a Lav. mic for interviews.  I switch the phone to silent and aircraft mode, and then plug an external mic in and use the free Rode basic app.

Works really well.

How about something like this? Only has 2 hours battery time tho (some meetings can be quite long).

quickymart: I know I can use my phone but I'm looking for a separate device.

There's a device used by some news media for interviews that looks like a standard handheld mike but which has a recording function built in that'll record quite large amounts of audio. Recharges/interfaces via USB. Don't know what they're called, I've just been at the business end of them a few times.

Or you could ask the Wirecutter.
