Ah, so the side discharge chute is at the back. That explains my confusion. Thanks.

Yeah, but is 2,700m² large enough to justify having a machine drag you around as well as mow? :) I have 3000m² (not all grass, admittedly) and keep a lot of it down with a scythe - good exercise and a 2.5 metre cut!
Why not get the self-propelled version of the Ego?
I can't seem to find the self-propelled Ego at Mitre 10, nor a 7.5Ah version of the mower too.
I can only find 2Ah battery packs that are sold separately too. OP, what secondary Ah battery pack did you buy?

I don't see a self-propelled one on-line, Matthew, but I did see one in the Pukekohe store today (and it's been there for several weeks). So I'd guess you'd have to check with your usual store. Mind you, it's $1199. Ouch!
Edit: It appears not to be in the Mitre 10 on-line shop when going through the categories but a search does bring it up - here: https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/ego-lawn-mower-56v/p/304134

I think they're all out of stock now... No price available on the product anymore.

The self-propelled version was about $1200......plus the extra battery and the fast charger. That would total close to $1700. I'm almost that crazy....but not quite.
This is my exercise, I'm happy to push. But I wasn't happy to almost double the elapsed time having to empty the grass catcher because my previous (cheap - $279) electric mower did not mulch. :-)

I now have 2 cows a goat and 2 pigs (and 50-odd chickens) helping me keep the grass short, but I think it might be more work than just pushing the mower!
Kudos to you for scything 3000m2, but at my age that would be a whole days work, and the 6 and 8 YO’s would surely want to ‘have a go’ and who knows where that would end!
Oh yeah, animals can be a lot of work, too. Good to hear that, though. BTW, I don't have 3000 of grass, maybe half that; I do like that I make almost no sound and get some good mulch but I don't have to cut it as often, so it's probably not much different in terms of work, though I already use an old Enviromower for around the house to keep the length shorter. Trouble is, I can barely now do much more than the front lawn before the battery runs out. So it's time for a new battery ($129) or a new mower ($mega), that can do a bit more. Still not sure which it will be.
PhantomNVD: Slight correction.. SWMBO tells me I have 7,645m2 and it’s 2.7 acres not 2700m2... perhaps I’m not getting enough sleep after all (he says posting at 11pm and still in the middle of a movie 🙄)
2 acres of grass used to take me 5 hours (over 2 days) on the ride on a couple years ago when it got too long and before we had any animals grazing 😬
I now mow about 1/3 acre lawn and 500m2 verge on the ride on and it STILL takes about 2-3hours... mostly due to having to clear the toys, move the tramp(s) and about the tiny orchard trees while doing so \_o_/
We mow to keep down vermin and reduce fire risk......otherwise I'd just let it all go to wildflowers and bees but for the small part we would want as a "clear space".
I've read recently you can plant no-mow lawns......plants that provide green ground cover, but don't grow tall.
I used to call those weeds. :-)
