Actually I was reading the Nespresso site yesterday (to find their contact number) and realised they now have agreements with 250+ garden centres around New Zealand to collect their capsules for recycling. I visited Twiglands (Johnsonville/Churton Park) today and dumped years of capsules I have been accumulating in storage (always meant to drop at the Nespresso store in WLG but never got around it).

Interesting. I work next door to the Nespresso store in Wellington so could just drop my capsules in there going forward.

The Twiglands landy was probably happy - I visited the store to drop some Nespresso capsules and ended up buying some weed killer, a couple of garden stuff and other things. Having the Nespresso collection box there benefits the store too...

They sell a neat container for used capsules. It's a nice design: -

- Looks nice (IMO)

- Tall and skinny so it has minimal foot-print on the kitchen bench.

- Lid has a secure, water tight seal

- Handle on the side so you can carry it like a big Thermos.

I work about three or four blocks from the Welly Nespresso store. It's easy enough to take it in at lunchtime, pick up some new pods and slurp a free coffee.

Would you consider a semi-automatic machine? It grinds and tamps for you.

I've got the Breville Oracle and the quality of the coffee is almost as good as the previous manual machine I had.

We have a Delonghi Magnifica S at home and also a couple at work. Great machine and makes a good cup of coffee with little to no effort. Very cost effective machine to use and run. a 1kg bag of beans will last about 6 weeks with 1 coffee per day.

One of the ones at work is about 6 years old and makes 40 cups a day and still going strong. Ive had to pull it a part a couple of times to removed some loose beans that have jammed it because some don't clean it enough.

Another +1 for this recommendation.

We replaced our Nespresso machine with one of these. Almost just as easy to use, but the end result is far, far superior.

The coffee portion is automatic, but if you want cappuccino foam, there is (minimal) work involved. But while the Nespresso used to automate the foam portion, its output was pretty poor. I'm getting close to cafe level quality foam with the Delonghi now (took a bit of practice to get my technique just right).
