I stumbled upon my nearly perfect smartwatch. Trans reflective always on screen, multiple day battery life. Ordinary strap mounting. Answer and reject calls, read notifications etc.

Enter Vivoactive 3

Found it at JBHifi for $100 less than elsewhere.

I'm still learning how to operate it, but loving it so far...

Anyone else got one around here?

1eStar: ...Anyone else got one around here?...

Purchased mine from JB Hifi in February after using Fitbit devices for a couple of years.

Things I like:

  1. Readable display
Crazy idea that you can read the display regardless of how bright the sunlight is!
  2. waterproof
I can wear it in the shower!
  3. lots of data to analyse
heart rate, weight, steps, activities, stress levels, sleep, etc.
  4. customisable display
a range of built-in displays plus numerous displays available from the IQ store
  5. standard watch strap
making it possible to purchase and swap straps

Things I dislike:

  1. battery life is poor
especially if you leave GPS switched on
  2. bugs!

    1. Heart rate recording will stop after being recharged (you have to remember to switch off then on to prevent this)
    2. possible to 'lose' steps (just discovered this!
    3. loses bluetooth connectivity with mobile phone (I have an android)

@rogercruse

I found this app.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mabi.android.gcmrunner

I just installed it last night, I noticed a number of reconnects while using GPS on my morning walk today.

My wife's watch decided to have a melt down last night, literally. The charger started smoking and is badly burnt as are the terminals on the watch. We are currently looking at replacements and the Garmin looks good but what is the App like for Android. What is the HR and Sleep monitoring accuracies like?

It's a reasonably well appointed app and seems to do all its supposed to. However from my limited use the heart rate and sleep tracking are so wildly inaccurate I've switched HR off and turn whole watch off at night to save battery.

That will take off her list then. Back to the drawing board.
