There you will find out all the trials and tribulations of building stuff in China, including sourcing parts. Have fun. It's a bit of a rabbit hole.

Bunnie Huang's blog and his book "The Hardware Hacker: Adventures in Making and Breaking Hardware" are also excellent resources on how this game is played. It's nothing like how standard electronics development operates.

I too have read the book and can highly recommend. To answer the original question as to where the ICs come from, they are typically sourced for you from the BOM by whoever you are using in China to put your gadget together.
