In my camper I have a couple of light switches that just dangle out on their wires, as I can't mount them flat onto the roof. For the life of me I can't find anywhere, ever, some flat 12v switches, that take wires in the side, instead of the the back.   Do they exist? Every year I try and find something and never have any luck, either online or locally.

Photo of what you have now?
Can you mount a small toggle switch on its side and parallel to your roof - with a small plastic box cover.
Have you tried:

I have a couple of swtches like this from JCar

But all switches have depth to some degree. Mounting on the roof I don't want any protuberances, and a flush mounted switch, would be my ideal.

I seriously have looked everywhere, Amazon, aliexpress, Jcar, etc etc.

This is the best I can find but it needs some mounting screw points.

I think I have found it.

This is a double IR switch. Which I can mount elsewhere, and just run the wires to the lights. The remote I can stick to a surface with velcro or double side tape.

This is the only thing I have ever found that is flush.

I don't think a switch that fits into a hole (either a round or square hole) with spade terminals mounted at right angles would be feasible. It wouldn't fit into the hole because of the spade terminals sticking out.

A switch with internal screw terminals probably would work, but I think most electrical hardware for vehicles tends to use spade terminals, probably to avoid screws vibrating loose.

Have used these recently, for lighting, you can order them with edge lit or custom etching, or blank, i used pre-etched for the services in the car i needed.

Edit-read the post properly, side mount might be challenging

This sort of switch is very small and is suitable for 12V lighting:

Why not fit a surface mount box like this and mount a switch on this? I know it's not strictly a surface mount but it would be a tidy solution.
