I just got the NZ shipping offer/email too. My only concern is what happens if they decide to shutdown their servers? Is there any way to get the data from the device without going thru their APIs?

Ditto - extremely impressed. I love not having to sorry about moving parts for wind and rain detection Nowhere for the spiders to really screw things up.
Accuracy seems great - reliability has been perfect.

Yes, you can read the UDP packets reasonably easily - there's a Homeassistant thing for it.

I've got the Home Assistant plugin installed and it works well. Only problem is my hub is on the IoT network and given the data is sent over the network via broadcast UDP it doesn't work cross-network so currently Home Assistant is talking to the API- just something else to consider if you segregate your network.
Niscoupe:
As there seem to be a number of these units now installed in NZ can we have feedback from members as to what they think about operation, accuracy etc?
I've actually got 2 units now - one at my house (https://tempestwx.com/station/55959/) and one at my parents which my non-technical father installed himself using a compass app on his phone that does true north (https://tempestwx.com/station/56770/) - I've asked him for photos of the install as I got him the proper mounting kit also (weather station is his birthday present that also arrived way too early!).
Accuracy is very good I've found. It can sometimes not detect very light rain but it does seem to catch up in the end (my father has done comparisons between his old manual rain gauge and the Tempest).
In all far, far better than the Netatmo I had before (which I sold in a matter of seconds for $50 on here) - @corksta if you're a bit of a weather geek just do it and sell the Netatmo and ensure you ask a bit more than I did ;).
In all - incredibly impressed with it and loving the lightning detection which also seems to be very accurate.

Nice - and good to know - thanks.
So another option could be to write a little UDP -> MQTT bridge which runs on my IOT network and publishes the result to the MQTT broker running on my DATA network (I have routing enabled for port 1883 to allow devices to push IOT data out).
Thanks for the feedback.
you could always try their API call - Tempest API (weatherflow.github.io)
only draw back is you can only get a day at a time - so depending on how many days your station is been running, could be a number of calls needed.

I would be very interested in this if you could share it (assuming you do it). I'm still really starting off with Home Assistant :)
Also I found out the problem with PVC Piping - it wobbles in high wind then you get a notification it is pissing down with rain. So mount v2.0 includes the rod taken from a broken umbrella that was victim to a storm:
No more wobbles. My father said that the official mount comes with some very thick and heavy piping - he however didn't use it and did this instead:

Did that include GST as well?
Yep - it was the total amount charged to my credit card.
Got mine setup in a temporary location while I wait for my mount to arrive
@michaelmurfy I've seen users in the weatherflow community forums filling the PVC pipe with sand to make it more rigid
Thanks for all of the replies, can't beat true user reviews. I too have signed up for invite and will purchase when able..
