I hear you. I am still new to this whole home automation thing, and don't have any experience with Home Assistant.

From what I have read online, it seems like quite a learning curve. For the time being I might stick with using the shelly app till I get my head around how to use HA properly.

You will be pleasantly surprised how easy it is to get Home Assistant going with Shelly devices - as in, you don't even need to open configuration.yaml and edit it for a fully usable solution.

HA has come a looooooong way. To the point I would suggest the majority of tutorials online are now highly irrelevant as they have built so much of it in to the GUI and add-ons.

Worth just grabbing a Raspberry Pi and giving it a punt! And for an even better experience while you learn, pay the $5/month to Nabu Casa for the few little extras they do that requires extra config (until you learn how to do it yourself).

I second @chevrolux comments around Home Assistant. I think you will find it more user friendly to use than the Shelly app. Remote access has a learning curve and you can circumvent this by using Nabu Casa until you are comfortable setting up something like DuckDNS otherwise I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

I will definitely dig deeper into what you both suggested.

Not being from an IT background does make this seem like a bit of a challenge, but am always keen to give new things a go!

Hey sorry to open up an old thread.... I've been trying to also find a suitable momentary switch for upgrading my old switches too.

At the moment I'm thinking the PDL iconic ones would be good, has anyone used them with a shelly or sonoff mini to do a passage way where there are multiple light switches for the same set of lights?

Yes. I have multiple switches hooked up to one Shelly dimmer 2. I did get lost when my sparky mate was explaining how he had hooked then up sorry.

Do you have the inbuilt LEDs working at all?

I also have a 4 gang switch in the main living room, I'm wondering how we would shove 4 shelly's into the the wallbox :-)
