Hi, Not here as a rep for Olympic, but just though I would post if anyone is looking.
Olympic is a Gold MS partner so obviously we use a lot of Microsoft tech here.

Got a couple of roles open.
1. Looking for a Tech Services staffer. We are a small team and support about 80 staff + some external work for clients. Need someone with 4+ years Windows server, Office 365/exchange and SQL experience. Would be involved in server maintenance, troubleshooting and to help with infrastructure/server projects.

2. Looking for one .net developer, possibly more. Seek advert is here:http://www.seek.co.nz/job/26987231
Highlights are that you have 5 years experience C# .net and MVC.net. We do a lot of web design as well as windows applications and we are doing mobile development for our in house apps here as well. We do the Woolworths/Countdown online shopping website here as well as Brother printers and a lot of others too. We are also working on applications that are in use in government departments and developing in house apps and solutions.

I can't discuss pay or much else, but feel free to ask questions and I will try answer. Better still, let me know and I will put you in touch with someone who can answer your questions.

We are currently going through a period of expansion and for what it is worth, I enjoy working here. Olympic is a good place to work and I enjoy it a lot more that the engineering work I used to do. They have also been very keen to develop me and others with peering with experienced staff and keen to help with further studies and exams.

Cheers
Paul

I have a some-what generic question for you.  My background is originally in software development, in C and then VB and a couple of years Java too.  But for the last few years I have been working in BI roles, covering Business Objects, Crystal Reports, Wherescap Red, SQL Server and Oracle, SSIS, SSRS, etc etc.  Overall I have been working in software for over 20 years.

I have been thinking of moving back into software development as I miss it.  What would it take for you to hire someone in this type of situation into a development role?

I have asked a couple of the agencies I deal with (as I contract a lot) but they really just don't know, so I am interested in comments from someone actually looking for staff.

Hey, I am in a low level role in tech services, So I don't know the answer to that but I can pass the question on if you would like. I can also send you a PM with a couple of emails if you would prefer to ask directly.

If you could pass on the question, I don't mind it being answered here in a general way as it may help others.  If someone wants to contact me directly, then sure, please PM me.

No worries, sent off your question to a couple of people who might be able to give you a better answer.

Sorry Timbosan, not got any responses back yet. Both the Managers I asked are currently tied up with big projects and releases. Will try again when they are a bit more free.
I would say you probably want to look at a place that does BI type work but also does Software Engineering. Find work and projects between the teams and then work into the SE side as possible. That is probably a gross simplification but it happens quite a bit at Olympic. People start in one team and work into another.

Just as an update here is the link to jobs on the Olympic Site:
