Hi guys, I am helping a friend to look for an IT grad for a junior BI developer role

 

Here is the background and job description:

 


"Affinity ID is the leading digital engagement specialist serving some of New Zealand’s largest organisations. Our track record in delivering business growth for clients is enabled through our fusion of smart thinking, intuition, and technology. With a staff of over 50 technically savvy people and data at the heart of everything we do - we stand well apart from the traditional agency model. We’re looking for recent graduates and those with 1-2 years’ experience to join our team of talented BI and delivery experts.
You will need great attention to detail, good time management skills and the ability to multitask. You will have the ability to follow process accurately and in detail, the foresight to understand when process might fail, the ability to work under pressure and an enthusiastic personality to work in a supportive team environment. You will also need the ability to learn new skills and processes quickly.

 

The types of work involved will be: Email campaigns, data work, web sites, surveys, reports and website management. You will have a technology-focused degree (Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or similar). Training will be provided on the systems we work with. An interest in marketing is advantageous.

To me it's just indicating the level of experience applicable to the role, which in turn tends to indicate the expected capability and also remuneration.

Yeap! Exactly what Inphinity said :) The same can be said for roles who search for people who are more senior. 

 

 

 

 

Seems to me that they are after people that are on the lower end of the pay structure. Which is fine.

Sooo, do you really think they would consider a 40 year old? 

 

For example. 

 

I wonder if anyone older than 30 would be biffed off the list.

Honestly, I don't see why not? I've seen 40 - 50-year-old graduates in this day and age. It's about the applicant's capability and skillset. 

 

They likely don't have the budget for hiring a senior BI developer, thus only looking for a Jr one.
