These sorts of jobs always pay "sunshine wages" -

There will always be a large stream of people who want to apply for these jobs who have little desire for "material enrichment"...

Another ranger position, this time in Taranaki. Good job, if you can get it.

https://jobs.govt.nz/jobs/DOC-400-2526E

Are you someone who is passionate about the conservation of New Zealand's natural flora and fauna, skilled at field delivery and passionate about sharing your skills and knowledge with others? Are you a team player who enjoys working with others? If yes, then this is the job for you.

The Biodiversity team in the Taranaki District delivers a broad range of terrestrial and marine conservation work from the Mokau River in the north to the Patea River in the south. There is over 100,000ha of Conservation land in Taranaki, with two marine reserves and Egmont National Park in the region. As a Ranger Biodiversity, you will be working closely with the Biodiversity Supervisor to lead the delivery of pest animal and plant work within the Taranaki region.

Key functions of the position include;

•Taking a lead role in delivering pest animal and plant work across the district such as 1080 operations, pest fish, trapping and weed control programmes.

•Supporting the threatened species work programmes.

•Ability to use Microsoft programmes to capture data and complete reports to a good standard, and the ability to interpret GIS information and produce maps.

If you have the above skills, and have the desire to help make New Zealand the greatest living space on earth, we want to hear from you!

Please apply online. Applications must include a cover letter, CV and evidence of the required capabilities as per the role description.

Sadly these days with all the nutters in this sector it will also require a bullet proof vest, close quarter combat skills, training on cover and concealment, and a proven ability to de-escalate volatile situations.

Typical of job vacancies these days - they want a gazillion years of training and experience and all the qualifications available on the planet and then offer barely above minimum wage.

Yep. Seems like the sort of job someone would take for the love of it more than the money, so why wouldn't they look for a fit, active, committed person who wants to do the job and will be trained in the rest of the requirements?
