Hi Everyone, I'm based in Christchurch and looking for a new IT role.

I've tried a few places without luck, so want to put my name in at a Recruitment agency as they've been good in the past.

Any suggestions please?

I can't say my experiences with IT recruiters have been at all positive. Most seem to be unable to relate experience to job requirements.

That said, I did have a positive experience with Sourced in Christchurch (https://sourced.nz/). Nothing came of it, but I found them good to talk to, and they took an interest in my skills.

Good luck with your job search.

I usually apply for a bunch of 'jobs' on seek and then are hammered with calls from recruiters for other real jobs, though usually there are very few permanent roles. Never had a good job through a recruiter, usually permanent roles given to recruiters are slave ships they've been unable to fill via direct advertising.

This. Look for IT companies that are recruiting via their own site etc, its how Ive gotten my jobs over the past 10 years. Dealing with a non-IT 3rd party is just frustrating.

Ditto, some of them seem absolutely useless and understanding your role experience. I've had a couple question whether I'm technical, so I go full technical about my skills and their eyes glaze over. Then they come back and say I'm too technical. Most them seem very young, like insurance sales people.

I trust real estate agents and used car salesmen more.
