Lightning is 100% digital. No more analog audio or analog video output.

The adaptor will need to convert digital audio to analog audio for the older docks. This explains some of the price component. It is not just plastic.

The adaptor does not provide analog video. There will be aftermarket for analog convert.

Apple will do genuine for Lightning to HDMI and Lightning to VGA.

If there was not a fire to begin with. This thread is just an anti thread. This thread was about the iPhone 5. But many, not all, but many posts are merely anti Apple/iPhone ribbing. Hardly makes the thread a worthwhile discussion. Yet, while some of these "anti posts" are accepted, it seems that a response in kind is not. I'm all for open discussion, no issue with banter between other platforms, but it has turned into a waste if my time reading some of this. So, on that, unsubscribing from it.

This will be interesting.
If the adaptor works as a DAC... then it will work well on sound docks that rely on the iPhone doing the digital to analogue conversion.
BUT, will that lead to incompatibilities in docks that utiilse the old 30 pin connector to take direct digital feed out of the iPhone (B&W Zepplin etc)?
Hopefully the dock adaptor can work with both?

I already know Vodafone will mess something up with the iPhone 5 launch. (No stock, would not sell off contract)

But I do have faith in Telecom because I bought my 4S from them last year launch day, no hassles at all and OFF CONTRACT. Even came with a free sim.

I'm facing a conflict whether I should pre order from Apple on 21st September or just wait on the launch day and rock up to Telecom

I hope telecom offers it off contract
