Both Vodafone and Telecom have been offering similar $19 prepay plans for a couple of weeks now that can be used with any phone, including the iPhone 5. They have 50-60 anytime minutes, 5000 texts and 500MB of data. They don't have the rather awesome 12GB for $99 for 6 months that 2Degrees is offering as an additional data package, though, which is what I'd be tempted by if I didn't have my 3GB per month non-expiring special on my old Vodafone plan.

they all do.  offers are pretty similar.

$19 bucks gets you:

2Degrees:    50 mins,  5000 txts, 500MB

Telecom:    60 mins,  5000 txts, 500MB

vodafone:   50 mins,  5000 txts, 500MB

so it really depends on which network you prefer (data speed, customer service etc etc)

I'm pretty sure it's not model-specific and can be used with absolutely any unlocked phone that takes one of their SIM cards - if you managed to get an iPhone handset outright (say from Aussie) then you could walk in there with it tomorrow and sign up. But they're not selling the handsets outright themselves at the moment. Of course, neither is 2Degrees. But if you've ordered from Apple, when your phone arrives you can rock up to any of them and purchase any plan you want, prepaid or otherwise.

nApple replaces the phone with a refurbished unit.

Yeah all you need to say is under new Zealand's consumers guarantees act blah blah blah...... They will give you a brand new unit.

There is no such thing that you can get brand new if you mention CGA etc. It is in Apple t&c that you will get refurb.

Saying that, you can buy a refurb unit at a cheaper price.

I actually did this for my sister I law so it does work.

As for the $19 combos I thought the telecom will stop selling this month but will last forever as long as you top up, where the others expire at the end of this year.

Anyone who ordered from Vodafone (with 1 month plan) got their iPhone 5 yet?
Mine was supposed to be dispatched on Friday but still hasn't arrived.

Also does Courierpost deliver on Sundays?
If not, I guess I'll get mine on Monday.

Haven't been able to check my account at Apple for hours - am irrationally hoping that's because they're doing a mass update of everyone's shipping dates to sometime this week :)
