Have just got home from picking up a 32GB Black from Dick Smith in Riccarton (Chch) without any plan or contract. The only Chch store to have them is the Riccarton store and stocks are getting low so call ahead and get one put aside if you want one.

Have cancelled my Apple order. Have a good weekend guys and those of you who have your phones enjoy!

Man from Dick Smith Riccarton on the phone said you couldn't put iPhone 5's aside.

Anyone have an idea of when we should cancel our one month contracts? When I left Vodafone I was told I had to give a month's notice but having the number transferred would close the account with no repercussions.

Man from Dick Smith in Auckland CBD put one aside for me. Saying that when I got there and picked it up the other staff were like "WTF an iphone put aside?"

I bought mine from telecom yesterday and I was not a customer but was no problem. I paid $1029, so less that my order with apple was! I am so loving my new phone, it's perfect and rather sexy lol.

Rosie121: I bought mine from telecom yesterday
I also bought mine from Telecom yesterday but am using it with a Vodafone sim and the wifi appears to be faulty - always turning on and off. Does this mean I have to take it back to Telecom?? Which means switching sims over etc???

Maybe it's the Vodafone sim making it play up? Dud you buy the phone on a telecom plan? Other than that, it could be faulty.

I dont think it will be the sim because its the wifi not the 3g which doesnt really have anything to do with the network. I bought it on the $29 no term contract and switched the sim. Im just wondering if buying it from Telecom means I have to go to them whenever my phone has an issue?

Thanks!

Oh ok. I know when I bought mine I asked if after a month if I could change to another network or what ever and they said I could do what I liked. I guess if I bought oh from telecom I would be taking it back to them if there was a problem.

i popped into telecom queen st this morning to get a 64gb white. they had all models in stock.
currently i am a vodafone customer, and i have been really annoyed with their 3g speeds using an older iphone 4.

i was hoping, with all the hype of its DC HSPA+ network in auckland cbd that i would get some decent speed. but boy i was suprised...

i speed tested with vodafone sim in a few spots along queen st, 10pm at night. i was getting 1Mbps - 6Mbps. (which is in their "super" DC HSPA+ zone, FULL reception)... what a epic anti climax.

swapped my free telecom sim in and it hit 10Mbps on normal HSPA+

who has speedtested their iphone5 between vodafone and telecom networks?

Went to Vodafone this afternoon to find out what I had to do when my Apple order arrived, with regards to a new nano-sim card. They gave me a free one on the spot, and I just have to call customer services to get it activated once I have the phone.

Anyone else ordering from Apple have their order preparing to ship now? Or has everyone cancelled and gone to Dick Smith or Telecom? I'm very hopeful I'll receive mine before the end of next week, now.

cooper1979: I just got my iphone 5 yesterday and this morning when I entered my password  to purchase app from the app store, my screen started to flicker.  Anyone else has the same issue?

Littleheaven - did you get the free nano-sim from voda because you're on-account, or are you on prepay?

My Apple store order is still sitting on processing, due to be delivered from the 29th..

It really is quite surprising how many people (percentage) in this thread alone have a "non-perfect" phone out of the box!
