I just ordered the iPhone 5 so looking forward to getting the full benefit of iOS as opposed to the less than full on the iPhone 4 I have now.

Well, as full as it can be in NZ anyway.

Are there any features such as dictation, Siri etc that are disabled due to the phone not speaking Nuzilland English?

And if so, can you re-enable them if you speak with a British accent? Or does it just understand you more often?

Siri can't find anything in NZ, but that's because Apple can't be bothered adding support for maps to it outside the Promised Land.

It also can't understand words like "Auckland" unless you speak with a butchered American accent.

Re accents, it works well. It learns your voice and it does improve from not bad, to pretty accurately getting all the words right

I set Siri to Aussie English and dictation works fine, for me at least. And yes, you can choose any language Siri is available for currently, which is 19 in total, 4 of which are English 'dialects'.

My auto brightness doesn't seem to work. Toggle it on and off and no change. Might do a hard shutdown

Does the maps support work in the UK?

There have been some hilarious reports re the mapping from there - like whole towns not being found, sat images used where the whole place is covered in cloud etc!

In a way, you would think that EU support would be more worthwhile to Apple than US support, as there are around 850 million potential customers in the EU compared to only 350 million in the USA.

After reinstalling iOS6, my battery life is back to 2 days. Had a problem with the battery life after the OTA update.

Reinstalling?  Do tell - does this mean doing a restore from iTunes?

Pwned: The battery life on my iPhone 4 is shorter on iOS6, I used to get at least 2 days on 5.1.1 but after the update last night the battery only lasted a few hours and it's drained when I woke up this morning. Wish I never updated to this version. Oh Apple...

To fix fast draining battery click settings , general , cellular , scroll down to "use cellular for: turn all off.
battery life should be better than ios5 :)

I set mine to UK as I find that I can imitate a British accent quite easily, whereas I sound a bit husky with an Australian accent. The adaptive nature of it works quite well - the accuracy was dreadful when I first started using it but now it has even learned to recognise my friend's cat's name 'Hendrix'. Unfortunately it will always have trouble with some homonyms such as 'mints' vs 'mince'.

On another subject I am very pleased that the reminders feature now carries over due dates from Exchange Server. I use the task list in Outlook extensively to manage my workload and it's good to be able to see what I have to do today, tomorrow, etc.

Yes. I downloaded the full iOS6 firmware and installed it using iTunes.

@1yippy1 I tried turning off all those unnecessary features, still draining faster than normal.

Upgraded to iOS 6 on iPhone 4 and now I've got the mail app telling me that I have two more unread emails when I haven't. ie. When I have 2 it says 4 etc. Anyone else have this or read about it anywhere?

That's something I have had intermittently for months on iOS5 as I am still on iOS6

One annoying problem that I have noticed over the last few days is that I'm occasionally having to fight my iPad to get it to wake from sleep. Pressing the home button multiple times over a period of ten seconds or so seems to eventually get it started, but I'll have to look into it further over the weekend as it's starting to drive me mad.
