littleheaven: Well, after careful consideration I decided to get a "refurbished" 3 from the Apple Store while they're selling stock off cheap. Got a white 32GB Wi Fi for $675. In the end I decided that it would be such a huge step up from the 1 that I'd be delighted with it even if it doesn't have the A6 chip. I'm not a power user, mainly web browsing, email and Angry Birds (lol) so it's not like I need the extra grunt. I'll upgrade again a couple of models down the line, I think.

Thats a pretty awesome buy at that price.

Yes, I thought so. Thanks to those in this thread who provided the tip-off!

I have decided 2 things over the weekend.

1, I need to get the Ipad 4, the smaller size just won't cut it.

2, I have to be patient and wait until atleast Christmas to purchase it.

Any word on which retailers will be selling the iPad mini on Friday? Haven't seen anything on the YOOBEE, Dick Smith etc. websites.

I called Dick Smith on Saturday and they said they'd be getting stock in "next week" so I'd say they're a good bet. Look on their store list for the ones with the Apple logo beside them.

I asked at JB St Lukes, they said they would have stock of the Mini and the 4 on Friday. By the sounds of it, the Mini will be in shortish supply.

Just called Yoobee in Newmarket. They said they can't promise anything since Apple is so tight-lipped but it's very likely that they'll have stock come Friday. No word on an early store opening or anything.

Picked up my black iPad mini from JB Hi-fi in St Lukes at 8am this morning. It's beautiful!

I too picked up a 16gb wifi from JB hifi in Wellington, they had a reasonable amount of stock apparantly, lots of white ones that no-one wants!

Are people using cases? Are they being sold at the moment or no stock yet?

So, what are they like? What do you guys think of the image quality and speed? I'm curious to see how they measure up to their larger counterpart.

I had a look at one today, thought the screen quality was a bit average.
