Well my 10 month old woke me up so i've started watching it.  Currently half way through it and i am sooooooo board.  I think apple have lost it big time.  It may get better, lets see.

All finished, that really sucked!  I can't believe that the iphone 5c is only slightly cheaper than the 5s.  It's not cheap at all.  Aussie has them for $739.  Thats close to $1000 here.

didn't watch it but watching the C-Net breakdown, it sounds typical Apple mid-product update.

Not really worth me trying to upgrade, I am glad that I got my 5 as I have been able to enjoy in for 3 months.

Was hoping for more products, but will have to wait until October for the rest!

Americas Cup will out excite Apple's hoohaah that's for sure!!

Lol my ten month old got me up in time also....

I think everything was revealed well before today so nothing new to excite but there is enough in it to qualify upgrading the wife's 4s to a 5s i think. The camera and finger scan to unlock are the stand out features to make the change for her. Hardest decision will be colour, gold is the obvious choice being the new colour, but gold will probably become the new white and everyone will get them

The iphone 5 has gone the way of the ipad 3 in being very short lived, the 8gb 4s is a pretty good budget option

I see Apple NZ haven't released it's prices yet.  How embarrassing for Apple to come this low but not their prices!!

I see (pun intended) that it has only taken 29 years to go from a an Apple IIc to a 5C.

I happened to catch the end of a webcast so only saw summaries.

I believe the pricing was mentioned during the launch was it not. The 5c starting at US$99 on a 2 year contract. But I see that another site has the 16GB listed at us$549 for the 5c and $649 for the 5s base models.

By the time one factors in currency conversion, import tax, GST and mark-up I would be thinking something like NZ$999 and NZ$1100 respectively. But that is just my wild guess.

I liked the idea of 64 bit (but I am a s/w developer) and I see there is some improved battery life which is always good. Fingerprint reader is a start I suspect.

Didn't see anything about support for MP3 ringtones (longer than 30seconds) - my pet want.

I don't consider 720p as being Hi-Def - now if it was 1080p it would be interesting. Didn't see a mention of iwatch, but did see a mention of new m-processor.

Interesting, I would have thought a dumbed down Iphone 5 8GB would become the budget model, changing their manufacture to one screen size and all Lightning connector.

Oh well. I am interested to see if the 5C comes in at $899 (old 4S pricing) when released in NZ and the 4S at $599.

No NZ Release date?

This announcement was rather underwhelming.  I might see if I can get my iphone 4 home button fixed under the CGA

[edit] I'm beginning to wonder if the fingerprint scanner is more than just a gimmick given the difficulty of online security in general.  Could be good to simply hit the "ASB" icon, scan fingerprint, then do your stuff.

Same could happen for websites such as amazon where you need to enter a password.

Apple really need to develop something like lastpass, then , integrate that into the fingerprint authentication so no more passwords.   That would sell me.

I must admit - the leaks have made this a quite underwhelming release.

Without the leaks, it would have been moderately interesting, as we wouldn't have known about the colours (which are foul) of the 5C, or the slate/gold/silver colours of the 5S, along with the fingerprint scanner etc.

Apple really need to tighten up on their scerecy - pre-launch leaks make launches a yawn-fest.

On positive news - my 6 year old and 8 year old sons love the blue 5C. They're not getting one.

They've said pretty equivocally that no apps will access the fingerprint scanner - it's for unlocking and app-store purchases only...

They have: its called iCloud keychain in iOS 7. fingerprint sensor also authorises any iTunes/app store purchasers & downloads without needing to enter a password.

you misunderstand - apps are free to use the fingerprint authorisation process, but will never have access to your actual fingerprint data.

I used to get up early for these over the years, mainly when living in Oz as a few friends would do a live podcast following the events. It had a bit more pageantry though because instead of getting up early you'd stay up all night and hang out with like minds waiting for the event to start at about 3am.

Getting up at 5am just isn't in my genetic code, and I certainly can't stay up that long from the night before anymore.

Besides once my alarm goes off at 6:45ish on the day I usually just have to log straight on to the Apple website, or Twitter, to see what's happened without all the fuss.  Like today :)
