jarledb: Don't think I will be able to wait until december, so will get a 5s from the US with a Apple Care plan, should take care of issues here in NZ right?

There will be lots of 4G variants of the iphone 5S/C - you would have to be very careful to get one that would work with the NZ 4G frequencies.  Even then it seems the upcoming 700MHz 4G might not be supported .

No "might" about it; the frequency support has been published and none of the models support band 28. Devices with this aren't expected until next year.

Huh? 5s was the one announced yesterday...

We most likely won't see LTE band 28 until next year. In the case of Apple, that'll probably be with the iPhone 6.

I thought the comment was that we wouldn't see an Iphone5 with LTE until next year, I guess I misunderstood.

Well, release date for iPhone 5s/iPhone 5c is said to be in mid december, and with a little bad luck there won't be enough devices around and you might have to wait until 2014 before you can get your hands on a device.

Typically we're 0-30 days behind the US release so I'd be amazed if we don't have it by the end of October.

I bet our stock allocation comes under Australia so we will see them sooner rather than later

Why would Apple pull the iphone 5 off the NZ Store if it had no plans to offer its replacement for a few months?

Apple did show "December 2013" as the release date for the rest of the world during the presentation. I have seen it mentioned that it would translate to middle of december, but we will just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Has to be production related. They must expect higher sales from the two models than if it was one. Given the 5c price I'm not sure that will happen

Wow, surely they'll release the same time as Oz? http://www.zdnet.com/au/iphone-5s-5c-to-be-released-in-australia-on-september-20-7000020521/

I am wondering if we may see apple discount the 5c in the future. AS they now have two models, they do have room to do this, as their premium one they wouldn't discount. But as the 5c isn't really much cheaper, I would imagine there is a lot more room for discounting, especially if they have got the pricing wrong, and many people don't buy it. I think it is going to be marekted more towards kids in the US with the bright colours, where the parents can buy it for $99 on contract.

The NZ Apple store is currently being updated. Wonder if it means anything...

Edit: Actually I think that is a world-wide thing... means nothing lol!

Yeah worldwide, but pre-orders for the 5c are meant to go live in US soon.
