Move to New Zealand's best fibre broadband service (affiliate link). Note that to use Quic Broadband you must be comfortable with configuring your own router.

It might be a long night... I wandered down to the Lambton Quay Vodafone store at midnight to get one. Apparently they had "limited supplies" of phones available for outright purchase according to their Facebook page. It must have been really limited as there was a total of no more than 20 people waiting for a phone and they told me there were none left for sale outright.

I did get a free container of m&ms though so the walk was not entirely wasted!

They are tricky. Auckland VF told us yes we can buy it outright but we must have a current vodafone contract.

Really? Might just try my luck tomorrow at VF then since I'm under lock and key for another 11 months. Not sure how much longer I can stay up.

Just remember they only offered the outright buy on launch party. Tomorrow will be on new contract only

That is tricky. I feel their advertising was a bit misleading. I think it's funny when companies act in this way, really I don't see the harm of selling a few outright phones to people who turn up. I can understand them wanting to ensure supply to their own customers though. I'm not one of their customers but have no company loyalty so would be willing to move back to them if their service and pricing was more attractive. I do however avoid companies that have given me bad service and that includes making me feel misled.

They told me that there will be limited numbers of phones available for outright purchase over the next few days when stock becomes available. I don't however trust this to be true or at least this might mean there is 1 available each day so trying to get one would be a lottery. At least at the Lambton Quay Vodafone store.

I've been waiting for the online launch on apple and this is starting to get ridiculous. I can only stay awake for so long!

Same that's why I don't buy from them anymore. I just order on apple store it's a bit of pain that I can't get it on launch but beats VF and telecom's f-ing around. Too hard basket

It's funny isn't it; we want to give Apple our money but they make it so damn hard.

I feel your pain bro. Same here. Sleepy and I have an early start in the morning.

Let's just hope it's not too far away

I agree with you Foose. They are so obviously self-serving, and not in an endearing way.

I think it's more to do with the local telco

If we have an apple store in nz launch new product will be far easier

Is the stock for online apple store in New Zealand low? I might try wake up at 6 tomorrow. At this rate I'll be pulling an all nighter.

Admittedly kinda ridiculous. I know margins on these are tight, but you've already got me under contract and I want to give you money.

Oh please just take my money already I want sleep.
