Hi

Have a MacBook Air 11" running 10.9.5 OSX

MacBookAir 6,1

and when I connect to the  Panasonic TV via MDP I can get a picture but no sound.
I have tried altering the output on audio devices to 48000Hz but still no luck.

Does anyone have any other suggestions of what I can try.

Thanks

Try holding down the Option key while clicking on the speaker icon in the toolbar.
That should give you a menu with options to select the output device.

what mDP - HDMI adapter do you have?  Apple or third-party?  Some of the original adapters don't support audio across them

Other half has MacBook pro from 2010, I used the official Apple display port to HDMI adapter and plugged in a hdmi on Sony bravia rv.

One issue I had was needed to plug in to tv before I turned tv on else it would not play sound. Ie hot plugging didn't work for sound.

Not exactly your problem but possibly similar enough. Google no sound hdmi Apple or similar.

A.
