MikeB4: Those prices $599 to $26,500 are insane

I'd expect the ones that can afford a gold $30000 watch, do that easier than us buying a $599 one

Remember the insides of every 38mm (and every 42mm) is the same. The Case/Strap is the thing which makes the difference in price.

Just give it a month or two and it will  be $199

does not happen with Apple products, they seldom discount and if they do its 5-10% only for a limited time

Yep, and the permanent reduction if they keep the last years model going for another year which I doubt they would do with the watch

The 42mm Watch also has a bigger screen and Battery (has longer battery life than 38mm model).

Back in March I predicted NZ$1799 for the 42mm Black Stainless Steel, which would have been an insanely expensive price. However, not as insanely expensive as the actual NZ$1949 that it is.

Yeah but in March the NZD was 75c US, not the 66c it is now,

(something from the US that was NZ $1799 in March would now be north of $2K

Umm it is simple math:

U.S. Price for Black SS 42mm - $1099 USD

Convert to NZ dollars at current exchange rate of 65c:, then add 15% GST = $1944 NZD

This means Apple is making a whole $5 premium on the NZ version - OH THE HORROR!!!

Why does an insane US price make the NZ price any less insane?

Answer: it doesn't - NZ$1949 for a watch that will be outdated in less than a year is insane.

I appreciate the condescension though.

You realise there are literally hundreds of stainless steel watches from dozens of different brands that cost several thousand dollars?

And guess what - all those other premium stainless steel watches do is tell the time. You buy an Apple watch and in ten years time it will still be able to tell the time, as well as do a whole lot more. Saying it will be "outdated" is completely meaningless.

I have a first generation iPod nano - and guess what: a decade later it still does exactly what it did the day I bought it. is it outdated compared to todays models? absolutely! does it fail in its job to do the same things i bought it to do? absolutely not!+

reading posts like yours will be absolutely hilarious in 5 years time.
