You can trigger that by going through the process of buying a movie on your device.  It clears a bunch of space just prior to completing the transaction so you can cancel it but gain space.  I've also seen it do this after connecting to iTunes.

i didnt really have any issues on the ipad with the beta, except that airplay mirroring and airplay to another device seem to have been separated on the swipe up menu.

on the iphone, when in a call on hands free, the volume controls seemed to be out of sync. otherwise i have noticed no real difference.

MadEngineer: Anyone found that their notifications remain on-screen? Currently my phone is showing a notification on the lock screen from 22 minutes ago and the screen still hasn't gone off.

The way the notifications work now is that the old 'pop up in the middle of the screen and wait for you to click ok or close' has moved to be a dropdown from the top of the screen.

If it was the old appear and disappear type notification it will still do this. If it was the old pop up notification it will not slide in and stay there until you tap to open or slide it out of the way.

I'm finding the music app very frustrating that there is no way to clear the "Up Next" queue except my removing the songs one by one.

I think the look of the updated app is very dated. It is a downgrade over the previous version. The album art now is tiny, what is wrong with full screen album art?

Everything is oversized on the music app when you are browsing, it's a bit ridiculous. And the up next songs, I don't get the logic. Spotify is much better, you can play a playlist and it gets those songs lined up, then if you go browsing you can add songs to the queue which go in front of those songs and they line up in the order you add them to the queue. But Apple Music you On my way! other put it up next or right at the end??

You can add songs to either "play next" which puts them at the top of the queue, or "play later" which puts them at the bottom. But the queue itself seems broken and buggy. It will sometimes stop and not proceed with the next track until you hit play again, and then it goes back to a previous song and re-adds things to the top of the queue that have already played.

That's what I'm finding anyway. Is anyone else having this issue?

The built-in barometer sensor in iPads that have it (e.g. iPad Air 2 and Pro) has been disabled/is no longer supported in iOS 10. Not known whether this is a deliberate or accidental thing - but surely not deliberate. All iPad apps that rely on the sensor no longer work once iOS 10.0.1 is installed. Looks like it showed up in betas but was never fixed.

App-arently (see what I did there?) OK on iPhones that have the sensor.

I have just noted that my Voicemail now sends me a text instead of a notification like it used to (Spark - iPhone6), and the Voicemail icon no longer has a red dot next to it. Not sure if this is a carrier change or iOS 10 change...

Have found where to switch off the 'press home to unlock'. It is in Accessibility settings under Home Button, rest finger to unlock.

Awesome, that was really annoying.

But, why didn't it default to being the same way as previously?

Was just about to throw my phone in the toilet.

If you have a new iPod touch or an older iPad without Touch ID, you still have the problem of having to press the home button before getting in. I really hope they fix that because it is like Apple is saying that you need to get a new device if you want to access the device faster and easier. Or maybe they need to bring back slide to unlock to those devices.

Loving the iOS on my 6S+ The raise to wake is great, being able to get to the camera so much quicker is also really good.

So far I am really liking some of the features, like when I unplug from carplay the phone records where my car is parked!

battery life was starting to get shorter and shorted but this refresh seems to have it back on par with what it was new.

So far no bugs.

I wonder if Carplay is required for this. I don't have Carplay but I've noticed that my device shows traffic information on the lock screen whenever I'm in the car, so I assume it has awareness of when it's in the car based on whether it is connected to the car's bluetooth.

That is good to hear. I am really intolerant of buggy software so I usually wait for a couple of minor dot-point updates before making a major upgrade, but it sounds like iOS 10 will be okay whenever I'm ready.
