alasta:

Well, I still haven't heard a peep out of Noel Leeming, three weeks after ordering and two weeks after their estimated delivery date. I wish I'd ordered directly from Apple but it's too late to do that now because I am changing jobs in a couple of weeks and I don't want to risk the package turning up after I have left.

Fwiw i queried them yesterday and they stated that there is no confirmed supply date from their supplier and they could provide no other details. :-(

I guess that implies that we won't see it next week either.

I don't think I would deal with them again. In itself I'm not too concerned about the timeframe - it's not like it's something critical like a fridge or washing machine - but I just don't like being given misleading information and then not getting any pro-active communication to keep me informed. It's very poor customer service.

To anyone who's worried about the screen being scratched, get something like this

http://www.techarmor.com/apple-watch

I had the original sports before and it also got some light scruff after a few month of usage. After putting on the protector, I could tell how much scratch I was getting because the screen protector was getting scruffed and need to be replaced every few months.

Now I dont have to worry about it at all when wearing the Series 2 AW with a protector. And there's already one corner on the S2 showing a 'pinch bubble' on mine and I'll probably replace the protector after a few more scruffs.

Edit: Also I tried a few screen protectors before and the one I linked seems to be the best as it sticks well and looks like as if there's nothing on it at all.

I used the bestskinever cover for the gen 1 apple watch after trying a couple other protectors that only covered the flat front of the watch. It was tricky to apply but once on it did wonders for looking invisible on the watch as it went down the sides and covered the whole front of the watch. It saved it from a fair few scratch.

I rang Noel Leeming and asked for an update today and it sounds like Apple is giving them very little communication. The guy I spoke to offered to cancel my order and give me a refund, but I'm going to hang on for a bit longer. Hopefully there might be some traction next week.

I went into JB Hifi at lunch time and the guy there told me that they had received stock of a couple of specific configurations, but they're not taking orders for any other series 2 units at this stage. He said that getting hold of Apple stock is quite difficult at the moment, and I guess they don't want to risk disappointing people by taking orders with no idea when they can fill them.

Thinking of getting one of these too, their pricing seems quite reasonable. Do you have problems at all with the corners lifting or catching on things? I had a snap on case for a while that was always falling off, so I stopped using it and of course I've now scuffed 3 corners of the watch face :-)

Iinstalling the corners just took patience, i sat with it for about 20 minutes and kept smoothing the corners as it dried, looked pretty good in the end.

Frustrated with Noel Leeming for not being pro-active in communicating delays to their customers. I am unsure as to why they have taken orders for items that they clearly are unable to guarantee delivery of in a reasonable timeframe.

I will leave my Apple Watch Series 2 order with them but will think twice in future as ordering directly from Apple has been far more successful.

I want to rant, but really it won't help. Time to practice some patience.... Xmas is coming!

Getting a bit miffed myself with the delays and shoddy customer service.

On a different note, ordered one of these after seeing the original version a while ago but shuddered at the price.

The modern build model looks stunning with either black or silver watches. Looks great and quite a bit cheaper than the official version.

I can understand the delay because if Apple isn't supplying the product then it's not really their fault, but the poor communication annoys me. They quoted a one week delivery time which they must have known they couldn't fulfil, and two weeks after that they still hadn't said a word until I called them.

An email last week saying something along the lines of "we apologise that there has been a delay in fulfilling your order and we will come back to you as soon as we have heard from our supplier" would have made the whole experience much more forgivable.

Mine said 5 weeks when I ordered from Apple Store. It shipped in 10 days. I'd go for it with the Apple Store. Super easy to cancel order completely if it hasn't shipped by the time Noel's have them in.

Do you mind me asking when that was?

Ordered 22 Sept. Got a delivery date of 5th Nov. Delivered 3rd October.

Model was Series 2 Space Grey Sport 42mm.

You can cancel anytime with Apple until it reaches the preparing for shipment stage. It came straight from production line in Asia via TNT as oppose in stock items which come from Sydney via DHL / Courier post.

Hope that helps. I'd certainly be doing this over any 3rd party NZ retailer.

Have to admit, im tempted to ring apple online and check what their delivery time frame actually is, im sitting at a month since ordering with zero feedback from noel's unless I had instigated it.
The lack of feedback from noel's is the most disappointing part if this whole thing, i would have thought a simple email to say there are delays etc would be the decent customer service thing to do, but that would ohviously make too much sense.
