By the way, Vodafone is hosting a media event this Friday, 9am. I will be attending the Wellington one. Of course whoever gets a handset in the midnight rush will beat this meeting, but I will try and get some pictures to upload soon after.

That sounds great. Will there be one being hosted in Auckland do you know? and where?

Yes. At the Vodafone offices. And you need to receive an invitation and RSVP to be in the list to attend.

Have a good sleep my fellow geeks. Tomorrow will probably be the worst days of your lives.
Be prepared to be utterly disgusted and extremely upset. I think I might even notify authorities in-case anyone does manage to climb the sky tower and jump due to severe depression of the raping you're most likely to receive from Vodafone.

So in short. Be strong my geeks. Time will come when we can leave our houses with dignity. Dont give up hope.

Seeya!

I'm sure freitasm will post it here as he's on the PR list. I'll be posting it on my site as I am too.

Fingers crossed for you guys. I'm still dreaming of prepay...I can but dream.

Hahaha, im with you on that one. amen!
(BTW, amen is really weird to spell... )

I would say they will just be released on the website and possibly an email to those who signed up to receive information about it from their website.

But really, all you have to do is get up at 9.55, (unless you work)

1. get up at 9.55
2. rub your eyes at 9.55
3. walk to your computer (without running into anything9.57
4. sit down and turn it on, so another 2 minutes.
5. load the vodafone website.
6. wait for 30minutes while vodafones servers untangle themselves.
7. wait even longer for vodafone to actually post the information.. by this time it'll be about 10.40-10.50

Haha, and dream is all you will do in this case.
Vodafone won't give up raing us for a few hundred dollars. Oh no. They want to take it the whole 9 yards and steal 1.5 grand off us. (at least)

Well seeing as everyone is off pretty soon this may have to wait til the morning.
I'm on prepay and want to port my number.
That means I need to sign up for a contract and have the number sorted out too.
What will Vodafone need from me?
Photo ID, Proof of Address (bank statement)???
Is that all? I thought they had to do a credit-check too so how does that work at midnight!!!????

Question.. Why would you need a credit card for a credit check? Ive never had a creditcard but have AA credit, thanks to my multiple hire purchases over the years (currently on my 11th and 12th). Soooo im thinking that as long as you have good credit already you should be fine. A credit card isnt needed for a credit check.

Been reading the discussion for the last couple of days.

A little bit of hearsay to add to the picture:

My boss had coffee with Vodafone's CFO the other day and he mentioned that as Telecom are likely to have their 3G network up and running later in the year, they are wanting to make the most of the window of opportunity and commit as many people as possible to 2 year contracts - hence the 'no prepay' policy.

However to ensure that they do make the most of it also, their contract plans are going to be very reasonable.

So here's hoping that the definition of 'reasonable' is the same for the CFO as for us punters!!

Very tempted to turn up at the Colombo St store at midnight Thursday.
