rebeltrousers: Yeah sounds like a cool idea!
My facebook group with 1 member hasn't seemed to take off.
I just DON'T want to miss out! :)

Sounds as if we could wait til the morning and then bown up to any old store and get one....BUT it's the "sounds as if" in that that I'm not happy with!

So it sounds as if some people might just turn up after work etc?
:)

Yeah, sounds about right...

Well I think we should all exchange numbers. I will send it out to a few of you guys, just right your name on the list like

eg, Aaron T - 021870***
(I *'d them out for public posting.)

Aaroona:
timbosan: Well, I saw the guy on TV who is selling his place in the queue on trademe, and he is lining up 18 hours before, which is a bit extreme, almost guaranteed on being first in line.

I reckon anybody there before 6pm is far too keen and a bit of an Apple fanboy ;-)

So how about we aim for 6pm, I can come straight from work then!

Haha, yeah fair enough..
I think im gonna' go extreme though.

I might leave here (whangaparaoa) at around 4.30am on thursday or just after 6am just so i miss the traffic... Hate traffic..

But yeah. I want to know who's interested to see if anyones actually gonna' turn up :P

4.30AM????  That's EARLY!!!  Or do you mean 4.30pm??  Either way, queuing outside a store that is still open during the day (Thursday) on a busy part of Queen Street could be either fun or a real drag.  But you may be 2nd in the queue behind 'Selling my place in the queue on Trademe' man.

I will see you about 6.

Oh, all of us who are going to the Queen St store should PM each other our cellphone numbers, and if a large-ish group of us are going to meet there at a certain time, lets organise it a bit?  Comments, ideas, suggestions?

And a 'what to take' list:

Chair
Umbrella (Auckland s**t weather)
Money
ID
Vodafone Bill
PSP/laptop/other electrical item (could start a LAN on Queen Street!)
Warm Clothing
Change of underwear when you finally work out how much you are paying Vodafone

See you then!
:-)

Lol, we will know how much tomorrow morning at 10am. Apparantly on the dot.
SO BE AWAKE AND HAVE YOUR FINGER READY!

.. Just to be super careful, have a spare change ready for when you log on this morning.

BTw, Just to let you know, I will send out my number. cheers.

I probably would've gone straight from work but I have an important game of indoor cricket that night starting at 9.30pm sooo I'll be turning up straight after that at 11ish, unshowered and smelly ... I'm hoping it'll gain me a few spots in the que.

I've put a link on maccrazy. Although our visitors are primarily from overseas, it might help you out. :)

I've already got people I know coming along to hassle me! I recon some time like that is pretty reasonable aye, I don't think we'd miss out! :)
If they've listed other stores as selling them on Friday there must be more than some people think. I heard that they'd gotten about half of what they'd wanted....

Just joined the Facebook group. Don't know if I'm going to buy, though. Still waiting on my account manager to call back with a better offer on the handset.

What a crowd, a sea of red hats stretching around the block, pumping music and DJ by George FM, and the ever beautiful ZFM cheer leaders.

It was freezing but it warmed the cockels of my heart to see such a crowd of surging people, iPhones and cameras held high, like some space age version of the teenage rock concert solo with gently swaying lighters. A lot of the crowd was press, security or Vodafone staff :) Amusing.

Even the top guys from out of town stopped by and blocked traffic, Navman on the dash, big Australian rental car. :)

Looks like Johnny is a very popular boy, all the press wants a part of him.

There was about 200 people in queue, I saw the ifixit guy, and the second in queue, but the man of the hour was Johnny, all the network cameras formed a scrum and chased him down the street with a gaggle of Vodafone and PR people following, atlas the queue was too long and I like my old cracked, battleworn workhorse iPhone G2.

Home we go, with no new additions to my Apple family.

Johnny
