I'd definitely go Po-lice first.

I never shop online unless I have a physical address, phone number (that works), and credit card facilities.

Although is it just as bad to hand over credit card details to dodgy scammers??

Yes probably but the fact is that you pay for the extra protection of your credit card with the ridiculous fees and interest rate. You may as well use that to your advantage.

Im sure the credit card company will be much more proactive to recoup their money from the scammer (or their bank) than dealing with the police.

Ive nothing against NZ Police and think they do a damn fine job but given their limited resources Im sure theyve got better things to do (and no doughnuits comments please).

Trevor

PS the same thing applies for Ebay and Paypal. Anything I get on Ebay is paid for with Paypal, they are there to protect the buy/sell process but we all fund it in the end.

I just rung the number that's on that site and no answer - with no name on the answer machine either.

ebay Australia might be worth a look. A lot of Australians are unloading their 1st gen iPhones at the moment, and a lot of Australians had them. Some may well be new. Prices are a bit high at the moment, but will drop next week.

Well i got a reply to my emails! What are the odds it arrives tomorrow?
I replied straight away to ask for the tracking number so i could check it, but no response thus far.

Sounds like you're in the same situation Mich, have you heard anything?

Yes mine is for my wife's birthday. Hence i'm in big trouble if it doesnt arrive soon.... (not to mention out of pocket)
Who would have thought a hair straightener could cost that much!

I emailled I-Store to give me their location or something to reassure me about buying from them - this is their reply:

Hi there
    Thanks for your enquiry.
Our company just sell online and deliver via the Couries or NZ post,do not arrange for any collecting
If you have any further questions or if I can be of any further help please do not hesitate to contact me.

You can't go to the credit card company when you didn't pay by credit card!!!

And from the sounds of things this guy is a drop-shipper so I won't be risking it.
