I have also had a refund - after sending some pretty blunt emails.

So far they have refunded 75% of what i paid, with the rest apparently to come after i return the product. Is that what happened to others? To be honest, i'm not sure if i should post it back or not - hard to trust them now...

I have had an email saying they are going to refund me my money and wanted my account number to pay it into.  No mention yet of what will happen to the straightners so will wait and see.  Looks like threatening emails and contant ones at that are paying off with a few of us getting rerunds.  Will post what happens if any news.

We made sure we had all of our money back before even thinking about returning anything. Plus, now THEY'LL have to PAY US for the return postage. We aren't losing out on a single cent. Why should we?? REmember, THEY are the ones who ripped US off and wasted OUR time. What you guys do is up to you, but I find it hard to trust www.i-store.co.nz after they sold us a fake, used GHD hair straightener.

you should get a full refund then not send it back. If they want to play silly games, so should you. Im sure they wouldnt have a chance in hell of winning any court cases anyway

I think I've been scammed Frown

I did a buy now on trademe, and I picked it up this evening. The guy said it was working perfectly in USA, but when he bought it to NZ it didn't work obviously because it was locked. So he said it just simply needs unlocking.

So I get home, download ziphone 3.0 (the iPhone's firmware is 1.1.4), and it unlocks, but there is no reception when I insert the sim card.
Also, when I go to Settings > Sounds and change when I tap on a ringtone, is it meant to play the ringtone? Because on the iphone the sound doesn't seem to be working as well. 'Keyboard Clicks' is turned on but I can't hear anything. Volume is right up, the switch on the side is not on silent!

I want to get your guys' feedback before I go back to that guys house.
Am I doing something wrong during the ziphone unlocking process?
Am I doing something wrong with the sound?

Or should I go back to that persons house and demand my money back?

Hi, sorry to hear of your troubles.

I've been asking a lot of iPhone questions here: http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=76&topicid=24168

Might I suggest that you try downloading and installing WinPwn (if you are using Windows, otherwise find the OSX equivalent), and then asking the guys in that thread.

nzbullet appears to have a lot of jailbreaking experience so should be able to assist you work out what might be going on.

Been a while since I mucked around with iphone software, but why don't you restore and then do the conventional jailbreak/unlock?
:)
May fix it, I had strange issues with my 1st-gen iPhone when I was mucking around, no sound and other things weren't working either.

See what other people recon before you do it though!
:)

Hey Ebbi,

I would do a restore to get it back to fresh. To do this you will need to locate firmware 1.1.4 (can't link to it here but check iclarified.com) and do a shift restore (hold shift key while pressing the restore button in iTunes, allows you to select the firmware).

Once you have a nice fresh install of 1.1.4 go ahead and download WinPwn (PC) or Pwnage Tool (Mac) and use that to jailbreak and unlock.

Normally you shouldn't need to restore before using WinPwn/Pwnage Tool but as you have been having some strange problems, and you don't know what else has been done to it, I would recommend you do on this occasion.

Details on WinPwn/Pwnage Tool can also be found at iClarified.com

Hey mate.

I tried doing a restore, but iTunes comes up with an error message saying:

"The iPhone could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1015)"

OK what stage is the iPhone at now? Does it have a Yellow Triangle on the screen, a Dock Cable saying "Connect to iTunes", or is it normal. What iTunes version are you using? What firmware version did you try to restore to.

1015 is fine, you just need one of those programs to kick it out of that! :)

Hey man. Thanks for taking your time to help me out. Much appreciated.

I'm using iTunes 7.6.2 (9).

The iphone, when I tried turning it on used to show me that yellow pineapple and then it goes to the homescreen where I can only slide for emergency calls.

I tried to restore to 1.1.4 "iPhone1,1_1.1.4_4A102_Restore.ipsw"
That is the file I downloaded from the net...

And theres still no service. Sometimes it says "No Service", sometimes it shows the bars but really tiny which means there is no service.

Hope this info is helpful. Right now I'm downloading the 2.0 firmware....but at 9kb/s i'v got to wait for 6 hours
