Although i was originally against buying the iphone, it got me thinking.

a 8 gig for a grand isnt too bad. i paid a grand for a treo and thats a piece of crap.
I think I will transfer my on account plan to iphone and just go for it...
whats 30 more dollars a month honestly?

Originally I wanted a 16 but I honestly think I wont be able to afford it unless i sell my nano

(Ps 8gb Brand new black nano no scratches for sale $190 nick@getupmaria.com)

I think i am being crazy but as long as i can have vodafone family it should be okay (they said you cant have adons with iphone plans yet apart from a couple but since i am on a you choose i should be okay)

I'll give my final decision tomorrow.

Thoughts?

If you think you're getting your $80 worth of services every month for the next 2 years then go for it.
If your a casual data user then maybe 1st gen is better. That's what I'm leaning towards.
Casual data rates for any phone except new iphone? WTF?

Well they suckered you in.

If Apple wasn't aboslutely awesome at creating hype noone would get "emotionally attached" to their products,
and vodafone would be up the creek without a paddle.

Do the sums whats it going to cost you.

then minus what your likely to pay in the next 24 months for your phone.

If you can justify the number you then get, buy all means go for it.

Yea fully. I lay in bed last night thinking about it and completely came to that conclusion.
Right now I pay about $30 a month for general cell services and I have a pretty decent phone and a touch.

If I went to an iphone right now I'd just be paying vodafone a completely insane amount for the priviledge of merging my phone and my touch and maybe getting a little bit of data (which to be honest I don't really use right now, even though I could be using it on my 3G cellie).

It just come down to gadget addiction. Gotta take a deep breath, have a cold shower, and wait it out...

I don't think I can justify the cost of the plans no matter how I look at it. If you knew that there weren't going to be any better deals in the next 18 months then maybe I would sign up on the cheapest plan. However, the fact you are bound for 24 months, receive minimal subside and Telecom and Orcon's new networks are just around the corner means that six months from now you might find there are substantially better deals. Instead I'm going to buy the 16GB model parallel imported (estimated price at the moment is $999), wait a few months and then see which network can offer me the best deal on data.
