There was speculation prior to release as to changes to the method of activation.  Do you have to activate in-store?  What happens when you first connect to ITunes?

I'm still wondering what would happen if I upgraded my Ziphone-Unlocked 1st Gen phone to 2.0 and connected it to ITunes?   Could I activate it on VFNZ?

I read elsewhere here that 2.0 has been successfully downgraded so might have to give it a go out of shear curiosity - my phones been upgraded/downgraded enough times it could do it in it's sleep...

You don't have to activate instore, you can activate at home. You must have Itunes 7.7 to do this.

When you first connect it to Itunes you have to register the phone - and it has to have a SIM card in it to do so. I forget how long this takes, but I also had to register Itunes at the same time.

No idea about the 1st Gen iphone queries, as I don't have one.

Stay a mile away the first version iphone had to be unlocked by Ziphone and if you update to itunes 7.7 I belive just that may cause a ton of issues but if u definitley go to 2.0 firmware u just converted your iphone to an ipod touch .. no phone . no one as released anything to unlock 2.0 or activate it with the early phone let alone the 3G
