Does anyone else have the 5a345 firmware on their phone? This is older firmware and in the states phones are coming with 5a347, did NZ get jipped?

I'm pretty sure I've got the same version as you folks. It's quite possible that there were different firmware versions for different locations I guess.

The iPhone 3G came with 5a345, while the 2.0 update for the older iPhone and iPod touch is 5a347. The XML file that iTunes uses to check for updates says they're the same. Take a look for yourself:
At least, that's how I interpret it. If you're not happy with the build you have, I suspect telling iTunes to do a "Restore" will download and install 5a347.

Apparently there is at least one difference between 5a345 and 5a347 - the colour temp is a bit warmer is 5a345 (some people were complaining the screen had a yellow tinge). Ars Technica have a side by side comparison.

Apple stated they intentionally changed the colour temp (see above link), but perhaps they decided it was increased too much, or accidentally reverted it. Either way, I haven't heard of anyone noticing the difference without putting the new iPhone next to an old one.
