Hello

So, i've had my iPhone for about a week. Everything working good, put a few apps and songs on it.
Now, for no reason it's crapped out on me.

From what I can see, it looks like a software fault. The home button will not take me 'home' so i'm stuck with the last screen I was using (the sms screen). Even worse, the power button will not turn off the phone at all, only put it on and off standby.
And to make matters worse, I tried a screen capture (trying evey function possible from the sms screen) and now all I can see is a fully white screen.

I'm sure a full software rollback would fix this, but I really don't want to waste all of that time.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you tried a hard reset? (hold both the Home Button and the Sleep/Wake button until it completely restarts)

I had this happen to me on my iPod... I took a screenshot while playing music and on Safari when it suddently crashed, leaving me with a white screen for around 20 minutes.

Thanks to both of you.
I have tried a hard reset and it seems to have worked.
I actually had no idea at all about the hard reset function, I was under the impression that it was one of the things that Apple was stupid enough to have left out.

It's clearly explained in the iPhone user guide, along with a couple of other measures to take to fix any issues that may crop up

With all Apple ipods and iPhones you should be following the 5 r's, or in the case of the iPhone the 6'rs.

did u install apps from the iphone or from itunes ?
people with crashing usually have used the iphone itself to download and install apps this is not working nd causeing abunch of crashing
It is suggested that u only use itunes on a computer to download apps and this solves the majority of crashing
so redownload then that way

I know that now. For some reason I didn't think of looking there. Maybe it was because this happened about two minutes after I had woken up :-/
