He talking the physical design. Which I don't quite understand. How revolutionary can you make the physical appearance of a phone these days?

How about a phone without bezels the size of Texas?

Sure, pay for an iPhone 11 then. At this price point with those internals the target audience couldn’t care less about bezels.

Pfffttt.

Who cares.

I want a phone that useable, reliable, fast.

I did not care about the bezels on my SE, they did not change the functionality one bit If anything wide bezels on the sides would be nicer as then my big fingers don't block out portions of what I am trying to see.

I actually like the bezels. Gives me somewhere to put my fingers in landscape. I find holding it with a thumb or whatever resting on the bezel is comfier than kind of pincering it.

The only thing I would love is a metal body once more... I don’t use wireless charging and I’m inclined to think it’s a bit of an odd/unnecessary feature. Would rather the delightful feel of the old aluminium backs, and I suspect they’re a bit more durable than glass (but the reality is it’s probably quite similar).

Sucks the currency has gone bad.

When iPad Mini 5 came out in March 2019, it started at US$399 - in NZ $679. Price hasn't changed.

Now the SE 2nd Gen starts at US$399 - in NZ $799.

Oh wow that is a massive difference. Hurts to imagine what could have been.

So it's the same size as an 8 (or 7), but has the same chip as the current 11, but a single rear camera rather than the dual/triple?  And instead of being $1399 for 64gb, its $799 for 128gb.

Oh and no face id crap, at least has the touch sensor again.  If I need to wake the phone up when it's in it's holder in the car, I don't want to be mucking around with face id or pins.

Sounds like a no brainer for someone with a 7 that prefers touch id.

Invest in wireless CarPlay. My phone stays in my pocket when I'm in the car and I have access to messages, maps and music on a nice big touch screen.

I thought only BMW offered wireless CarPlay? It didn't appear to be an option when I was shopping for mainstream vehicles a year ago.

Wireless CarPlay is increasingly becoming the norm in even affordable cars now.

bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - yes you can get CarPlay for my car (2010), but it's aftermarket, by Clarion, and the unit cost was $4700NZD + install.

Yeah I’m gonna order this... question is, order it through Vodafone to make the most of interest free payments, or order it through Apple for (possible) quicker delivery/ less shenanigans 🤔

I've pre-ordered the 128GB in black. Been waiting for a while for Apple to come out with a smaller, more affordable phone. I have an XR for my business, and while it's nice to have the extra screen area for emails, I am a tiny little woman with tiny little hands and it's just not that easy for me to use. It feels heavy and clumsy and I'm always worried I'll drop it. I have a 7 for personal use and it's just the right size for me - I don't really care if the SE doesn't look new and fancy, I just wanted something faster with hopefully more battery life. Now if I could just find a case for it! Most of the local suppliers have let their 8 cases run down in case that model got discontinued, and overseas ordering options are scant right now. At least my 7 case should fit for now, even though it's a bit discoloured and dingy. Hopefully some new options will become available once shops are allowed to trade more freely again.

How do you think it'll go with Pogo? I like the look of this, just not keen on the drop down in screen size.

LOL, I looked at the "Interest free" terms for my iPhone 11 that 2 degrees was offering.

It required me to spend another $10/month on a plan than what I was already on (and no where near even using even half of it)

So I stayed on my plan as the interest I would pay over the short term more than paid for its self over the longer term.

We have CarPlay in our Suzuki Vitara that we bought bit over 3 years ago.

The keyword being “wireless”

Not many car makers are offering wireless CarPlay as standard yet

Yes, I have the wired version in my CX-5 but I have never seen the wireless version in any Japanese or Korean vehicle. I'd be interested to know whether anyone knows of any specific models that support it?

Not that it really matters to me because I only bought my car a year ago so by the time I replace it I imagine that wireless CarPlay will be pretty standard.
