Still waiting for mine to show up. Arrived in the Auckland sorting centre at 4am yesterday and apparently is not even out for delivery yet. I get the feeling it won’t arrive today :(

@davidcole Quote: bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha - yes you can get CarPlay for my car (2010), but it's aftermarket, by Clarion, and the unit cost was $4700NZD + install.
You can get adapter/dongle-type units that reside in the car and provide wireless CarPlay.
What adapter is this? Do you have an example? Also how does it connect to the car?

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
eracode:that implies a CarPlay enabled car though. The $5k above as for clarion to supply a new stereo For a 2010 a4 with car play in it. Cars of that yeR and model didnt even have Bluetooth audio

Nope. I bought an Android touchscreen stereo that fits in the moulded centre console of my 2004 Mazda 3.
At the time I just used the Bluetooth function to get my iPhone playing through the car speakers.
Then about a year later I bought a USB adapter that plugs into one of the two USB ports on the back of the android stereo I fitted and that has a USB socket on it that I plug my iPhone into.
Then, with an app I downloaded and installed on the android stereo, that USB adapter now allows Apple Car Play.
Total cost of around NZ$300.
There is also a wireless version of the one I bought now too but I like to keep my phone charging while driving anyway so wasn't worried about that feature.
Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.
Preordered last Friday via Vodafone, they rang on Monday to confirm a few things (getting it delivered to a different address). Order went to packing yesterday so I really didn't hold out hope for it arriving today. Tracking number says it was picked up this afternoon, but I have a funny feeling couriers won't be delivering tomorrow being it's Anzac day 😞
Oh well something to look forward to next week I guess!

I suspect couriers will be very very busy this week picking up and delivering stuff ordered from NZ retailers during lockdown.

Mine arrived at about 8 pm. There was a brief moment of panic when I got a txt from DHL saying it had been delivered 20 minutes earlier - it turns out that was when they handed it off to Pace Couriers. I'm going to wait to unbox it until my screen protector arrives because it's so much easier to apply to a pristine screen that hasn't been used and is totally dust-free. My case is also not shipping until L3 comes into effect, although I can always use my 7's old case in the interim.

My tempered glass screen protector arrived today, so I unboxed the phone and set it up. Feels very fast and responsive, but I'm bit miffed that the screen protector isn't sticking down each side, leaving an ugly "halo" effect. Anyone else had issues, or do I just have a bad screen protector? It's an OMP, which I am sure I have used without issue in the past.

Didn't see a whole lot of reviews mentioned, so thought I might add these two that I flicked through on my travels: AnandTech and GSMArena.
Love the concept, chucking modern guts in a no-gimmicks design. Personally, the screen size/type and body-to-screen ratio is an instant no from me dawg, but its cool to see Apple offering a first class experience for the crowd who disagrees with modern trends and just wants a solid and simple phone and a price tag to match (even if it is not quite as sweet as the States).
I guess the closest thing the Android world has is the Pixel 3a (presumably 4a soon), but Google's execution has never been as good as Apple's.

GSManiac:
Actually the pricing in nz isn’t too different than the states. Once sales tax is added and converted into NZD, it works out at around $715 NZD. Local price here is $799 so it’s not too different.
Ah doy, I priced up the 128gb model, then somehow decided that was the comparison to the base $399 USD price. Right on, it's not bad at all.
