I'm contemplating the Ultra as I have quite big wrists and even the 45mm Series 7 can look a bit small. It would have been nice if the screen had filled out more of the 49mm case size but the extra battery life will be a bonus. I also dive occasionally so that would also come in handy although not a deal breaker. Now if Noel Leeming will only update their website for pre-orders I will probably purchase. NL is the only retailer in my area that sells Apple Watch so I'm kind of stuck with them unless I want to courier from elsewhere and now that the 26th Sep is a public holiday it would likely be delayed further by a day or so.

Honestly, I would just order from Apple and wait.

Retailers will struggle to get their hands on stock, and there are plenty of horror stories of Noel Leeming taking people's money for products that they can't supply. They did it to me when the series 2 Apple Watch was launched.

Same for every year, this is the only way to assure an accurate ETA.

Plus it means you deal directly with Apple if you need any support in the future. My (very few) experiences of dealing with Apple support have been prompt and painless.

I'd always buy direct from Apple, as discounts on anything are few and far between from other retailers.

...especially given the comparatively outrageous prices we pay upfront for the tech in the first place

I came across a forum today where people in the EU were talking about crazy pricing. I thought we'd be worse off than other countries, but not so.

For the iPhone 14 Pro 128GB with pricing as of today:
US = $999 = $1630NZD
France = 1329 Euro = $2196NZD
UK = 1099GBP = $2097NZD
NZ = $1999NZD

But Turkey, wow! That'll set you back $3583NZD!!

Apple mostly run a global price list. The differences are largely tax and currency fluctuations. The US price doesn’t include sales tax which differs from state to state.

If they made one place much cheaper there would be significant grey market importing as the phones are so popular.

I understand that, but it's interesting to see the price variation around the world for the same product.

It’s cheaper here than the U.K. even allowing for tax. Bargain!

DHL express just delivered the Apple clear case for my wife's iPhone 14 Pro Max. It left Australia on Monday. The iPhone needs to leave Australia today then for it to be delivered on Friday. My wife is going from iPhone X to this. She is finding the case size to be massive hehe. It will take few days to get used to big screen size.

You will probably note that there will be no update on dispatch today... past years I have (not so) patiently checked and rechecked and been sorely disappointed to not see my new iPhone being dispatched, then become gradually more and more resigned to it not arriving on the target date, only for it to magically appear bang on time.

Key message - it will more than likely arrive Friday despite all the signs!

Still waiting for a cellular Apple Watch that supports MFi hearing aids with no phone present...

Does it not connect as an iPhone would?

None of the prior Apple Watches have supported MFi hearing aids. Looking through the 8 and Ultra specs there's no mention of MFi HA support so I'm assuming nothing's changed there.

Not necessarily but where you live will be a factor.

I ordered some stuff on the Apple Store over the weekend. Tracking shows that the order was picked up from Apple in Sydney at 8.00 pm NZ-time Monday and it arrived at our door on the North Shore at 9.00 am yesterday (Tuesday). I have had this timing happen often in the past.

I thought orders for freshly launched iPhone models were dispatched from China rather than Australia?

Hmm - didn't know that. I just assumed that because other stuff comes from Oz, phones would come from there too - but maybe that's not the case.
