I thought orders for freshly launched iPhone models were dispatched from China rather than Australia?

No all past years have come out of Sydney.

iPhones always come from Australia (Sydney), whereas new Macs always come from China.

I think non-customised Macs are eventually sent from Sydney once the supply chain & inventory stabilises, though.

That's my experience anyway over the past 2–3 years.

I'm in the US (CAL and FLA) in a. couple of weeks time. Sales tax is 6% or 7% - working out the exchange rate and tax all new iPhones are significantly more expensive over there than here. Also the 14 Pro is eSIM only over there, which limits to a single supplier here.

In the end Mrs B got a 13 Pro yesterday and she's delighted (upgrade from an 8!).

Are there really only two phone suppliers or do you mean only two telco providers that support eSIM?

Edit: Quick check indicates that for example Best Buy are selling 14s. Also saw that eSIM works across major US carriers, including AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. However, many smaller ones have not yet rolled out eSIM support.

Sorry, two that support eSim in NZ.

Are Spark still the only carrier that supports the watch?

It's been a long time since I last ordered a new phone (2017 with my iPhone X). Does Apple ship all the phones in bulk to NZ and then they're distributed from there or are they shipping them individually from their international location? I'm due to receive mine on Friday...but like others above I'm somewhat dubious since the order status hasn't updated to shipped 😬

I’m due to receive my new iPhone on Friday too. My understanding is that the phones will be shipped individually from Sydney. If past performance is anything to go by, they will ship tomorrow (Thursday) and be delivered Fri 16th - but that may depend on where you live.

Same for me, and it’s been fine every time I’ve done it (incl last year).

Waiting for everyone to receive their phones so that I can see all the reviews/pros/cons from people with actual hands-on experience before I commit to a hefty purchase.

Apple is still showing ‘preparing to ship” but I had an alert in my DHL app earlier today telling me a package was on the way, origin at Apple East Creek in Sydney. Latest update was it had left DHLs Sydney facility at 10pm NZ time.

First time I’ve had a launch or custom order device with shipping origin in Aussie. Usually they track back to Foxconn in China.

Yep, me too now. This is interesting - DHL apparently already have my phone on its way to Auckland but Apple are still showing ‘preparing to ship’ and have not provided a tracking link - 12 hours after it was picked up from them. Are Apple playing silly buggers here? Smoke and mirrors?
