Hi, it seems to me that my iPhone 3G browsing speed with Vodafone is particularly slow. Is Telecom's XT network faster? I have flicked through some of the discussions on this site but

  • I'm not a phone geek, so I get lost in the technical discussion of frequencies etc - I don't know which are used by which telco, and which are faster.

  • Some discussions on Telecom v Vodafone are claim v counter-claim, and I'm not sure what the final decsion is (a lot of the discussions are about pricing, but my immediate concerns are price-based)

In my experience XT is MUCH faster than Vodafone. Even when both are connected to 3G (which you'll only get in major centres with an iPhone on Vodafone).

There's a known problem on iPhone 3.0 when used on Vodafone network. It seems there's a fix coming. In the meantime the same handset on Telecom XT shows better performance in terms fo data speed.

Also you will notice that your iPhone will work on Vodafone 3G in the main centres and may drop to 2G in some places within these areas, and certainly outside the main centres. It will always be connected to Telecom XT as 3G because Telecom's network is 100% 3G in the same frequency the iPhone "understands".

That's all you need to know.
