I think also at the event we will see iPhone OS 3.1, and probably iTunes 9. I hope they don't drop PowerPC support for iTunes 9, I can only afford an iPod touch, not an intel Mac!

What do you think me the idea me apple changing the design of the iPod Touch. The only problem I see with that is that the leaked "prototype" we saw last week would be a fake as it stays the same. I do think we will see iTunes 9 and iPhone OS 3.1 at this event and hopefully the new touches ship with it. Tom

I'd really like to see a microphone....too much of a threat to the iPhone for Apple perhaps.

Also being able to have mulltiple apps. open at the same time. A big drawback at the moment

Nah, I don't think so. I usually get on the computer at around 7:00, before school, so I'll have a look then, and I don't know if I'll be able to watch the keynote, too big to download.

How old are you?

I'm not sure if I should load up my loaded card before the event (as it takes overnight), so that I can buy when it comes out, or load it on the Thursday and order on Friday. Me and my family are going away on Friday anyway, so if I ordered on Thursday, it may arrive on Friday or Saturday, but we wouldn't be there anyway.

How long does it take for newly announced products to be available and despatched by the NZ Apple store? I'd be surprised if they could do it within a few days of their announcement.

Given that the stock would have to come from the Asian manufacturers to Sydney and then out to the customer in NZ I would have thought that you'd be looking at a turnaround of a week or so. Given Apple's degree of secrecy around new products I wouldn't think that they would send anything out to Sydney until after the product announcement has been made.

In any case it doesn't matter too much for me because if I buy anything then I'll wait until my next trip to Australia so that I can get it duty free, but it would be interesting to see how you guys go at getting the new product ASAP.

Well, what has Apple done in the past? I would assume they would have them all ready to ship as soon as they announce them. At least we'll be able to see what features it has, and watch reviews from the US if we can't get them here for a little while.

All Apple products are available for shipping on the day of launch/announcement in the USA and are in the Apple Stores within 24 hours so I expect that we would be similar eg it will be in Australia sometime on Thursday and in NZ and our hands by Saturday or Monday. In fact I think that they are probably being pumped out of a factory in China now.

Yeah they would have been undergoing manufacturing for a while now under tight NDAs. It's impressive that they can keep things so secretive right up until the announcement, and have them in customers' hands so soon after, but I guess if anyone can pull it off Apple can.

OK so we have iTunes 9 OS 3.1 and "updated" iPod Touches. I have ordered my 32GB ipod touch and it will be here within a week, "Pending Agency Approval".

I'm not sure what to buy. I can afford an 8gb, but its not as fast as the other two.

yeah i was only going to buy the 8GB but i wanted the extra speed and it is a 30 dollar saving on the old 32gb. Good luck choosing and i will post info on my blog when I get it. www.geekzone.co.nz/thefatmould
Also i would buy today if you want to get the 32 because there is a delay in it being approved by an agency in NZ so it is not shipping here for up to 3 days.
