3.1.2 was released today, and may restore tethering (I don't own an iPhone so I can't test it myself). I wouldn't count on it, but it's a possibility.

It does not restore tethering, it will probably not be brought back without a hack.

I've got tethering available on XT 3.1 jailbroken (via 3.1.3 PwnageTool), FYI.

It's a sad day when you need to hack an unlocked phone to enter carrier settings.

^^ Seems a response to my post, its a pity you had to quit what you were doing at the time to post that...
Or has the iphone finally decided to allow you to multi task?

Oh sorry, I should clarify.

The iPhone is a great smarphone
The iPhone OS disables many of the capabilities of it

I'm jailbroken: backgrounding, VoIP over 3G, themes etc. come with that.

Id rather not have to hack a phone to make it do the most basics tasks that others do out of the box!

I'd rather pass on the background tasks than have a battery life like the pre, or carry a WinMo brick. In life, nothing comes for free...

Then dont get a Pre...

Blackberry batteries are just fine for over 36hrs of heavy use and multitasking... Never had a issue yet...

I do have an issue with not being able to use IM clients properly, or do two things at once....

Also is that line "I dont want multi tasking cos it eats you battery" in the Apple manual or something?

Hear it all the time from the fanboys

It eats battery but I'm able to charge it whenever I need to really.
