chiefie: Check it out: http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/18/tomtom-updated-to-support-ipod-touch-and-original-iphone/

This car kit isn't for the iPod touch. There is a separate car kit model for that and it doesn't appear to be available in NZ yet.

Your best bet is to look at the TomTom website rather than 3rd party sites as the information is all there

Yes. True. BUT the TomTom app can support the iPod Touch ;-) I "didn't" specifically said I'm going to get the iPhone car kit, and actually what made you think it won't work... kinda pointless to someone who say actually have both iPhone and iPod Touch (god knows why would it be though)... you won't want to buy two different set of kit that primarily same thing, to be honest.

This is a thread about the Cark Kit specifically - thought all comments would be related to that as opposed to the app.

The reason that makes me think it won't work is all the literature out there that tells me it won't. Including the engadget link that you posted yourself!

Yeah.. there seems to be discussion on whether the iPhone Car Kit has actually full GPS chip, or receiving/signal-enhancement chip. If it has full GPS chip, then technically it will work with all iPhone and iPod, just pending on the app itself - which is said to be compatible with both. Now TomTom's had an iPod kit at cheaper price, but it hasn't appeared on their site now... said to either they have enhanced/changed their iPhone kit to be more universal or something else...

Well I got mine yesterday and used it to drive in to town this morning. The reception is spot on. The speaker is loud and clear. Handsfree works well.

Can't say much about it really. Does exactly what it says it does and well too.

hmm.. kinda wish I hadn't ordered from Apple now - they're showing an estimated delivery date of 04/01/2010.. bugger.

Hi all, I just wondered - other than DSE and Harvey Norman (and the Apple store), has anyone seen these anywhere else?

Having enormous trouble getting hold of them... Harvey Norman Mt Wellington had one in stock which they held for me, and then sold to someone else...

I purchased a car kit from DSE powerhouse here in Hamilton last Friday.( The last one in stock by the sounds of it as well )
Harvey Norman when I rang said they were going to get 4 only by the sounds of it. So they seem rather scarce to get hold of.
I paid $198

JB-HiFi Botany in Auckland had 4 of them on 24/12. I am not sure they still have them.
